December 2011 Check-In

Be forewarned: Maybe December 1 and 2 will be quieter, but the Candlelight Processional should happen on the 3rd and 4th... so expect large crowds that weekend. But still, you'll have a great time!

Oh! Is it like a parade? Does it go down the parade route? Im not much of a parade person and neither is my bf so we probably wouldnt spend much time trying to see any of it. we are arriving on the 1st, going to be in the park the 2nd and 3rd and leaving on the 4th. so at least we might miss one of the busier days.

Be sure to subscribe to our Disneyland at Christmas Time Superthread - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2612827 - as that's where we discuss all kinds of breaking news (if there is any) and information on the season. Also, we've been doing "theme weeks," where we focus on a certain aspect or highlight of the season in photos to sort of build anticipation and count down to the beginning of the holiday season, as well as showcase some details that might otherwise go overlooked. This past week has been Main Street week. The week before that was Reindeer Round-Up week. Tomorrow there will be a new theme for the week.

Plus, on Page 1 of the Superthread, the first 3 posts (Intro post, Table of Contents post and the Holiday Info post) have lots of information for you and maybe some ideas on certain holiday offerings you can enjoy!

I don't know that December 1 - 4 is the least crowded weekend. That may not be true. That's the weekend of the Candlelight Processional, and people have always said that the parks are packed for CP weekends. The only thing that may deter some folks from showing up is that dinner packages are no longer sold to the public for the CP, and to get a seat for the event you sort of have 'to know someone who knows someone,' or be at the right place at the right time, when the Cast Members hand out tickets to the public if there are no-shows.

But the CP looks to be a beautiful ceremony and many people will try to see it, so the parks could be very crowded.

The week immediately after Thanksgiving - into the second week of December - is the least crowded overall week of the holiday season, but weekends will always attract lots of people!

wow! Thanks for the heads up! I have been planning on going to eat at the Blue Bayou, which is why the vaca is in december. POTC is closed til end of november. I hope it will still be fun though. It is just the two of us and we arent big on parades or anything so maybe we can take advantage of the processional times. Is it at night?

I am going on my first solo trip for my birthday, and will be there December 8-11th. Staying at the Tropicana Inn. This will be my third time there this year, and I just got home from the most recent trip two weeks ago, but I am STILL incredibly excited.

A bit nervous about feeling awkward/looking like a doofus being alone, but I'm sure that it's going to be a blast, and that I'll get to see a side of Disneyland that I haven't been able to before with a group.

Only 88 days left!

DH and I will be going on December 22nd! Since we live in SoCal it will just be a one day trip and no hotel stay.

So excited!

Question!!!

I am going on December 1-4 to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend. What are some nice romantic things to do around DL for Christmas and birthday combined? I am a big fairytale kind of person and sucker for romance. I want it to be a nice calming trip. I know the candle light thing is the 3rd but we plan on seeing WOC that night instead so we beat the crowds. Im looking to take the trip nice and slow and truly enjoy Disney. Any romantic or fun suggestions for my birthday and christmas combined?

Thanks!

we will be there Dec 24-28. This will be our first trip to Disneyland during the winter/holiday season. Our kids (17,15,12,12) are super excited. We are staying at the Anaheim Marriott.

we'll be there dec. 9-12!! :cool1::cool1: me, bf and another couple are all going together. thinking about scheduling time at bbb for us princesses.. my bf said he's planning on doing something while we're there, but don't know what.

any suggestions for romantic things for 2 couples?

We will be there 12-7 through 12-14. An entire week!! I am so excited as this is our first trip at christmas time and I just know it will be even more magical than it normally is! I am already wishing we could just skip right to December!:santa:

Doesn't December seem like forever away??!! I can't wait to load up the car and hit the road!!! My kids (18, 17, 8 and 3) are also getting crazy excited, which is fun.

:santa: Sometimes it seems far away (especially when looking at the ticker in my signature). But, times sure seems like it's flying when I think of everything I still have to do and get for Christmas! LOL

It is exciting to watch my ticker count get smaller and smaller.

I am working on my dining plan....
I have not been to Disneyland since I was a child.....at Disney World planning your dining is a big deal! You have to have reservations in order to eat anywhere. So does Disneyland work the same way or not?? When I booked my trip they said no reservations until 60 days out.

Any recommendations on places to eat?
What about a Character meal? We are planning to do at least one I just need to decide....I have a girl and a boy so we might have to do a princess and a mickey meal?

Also on a side note a few years ago when I went to Disney World I did the photopass thing and 3-5 other people who were going during the same time as I was we all shared one....is that something we can still do any is anyone interested? I will be at Disneyland Dec 10-15.

Happy Planning :yay:

For character breakfasts, it depends on who you really want to see.

Minnie Mouse: the Minnie & Friends breakfast at Plaza Inn.
Mickey Mouse: PCH Grill
Princesses: Ariel's Grotto
Goofy: Goofy's Kitchen
Chip & Dale: Storyteller's Cafe

Thanks Spiderdust :)
I think my daughter would love to see the princesses....Character Dining at Ariel's Grotto is available for breakfast and lunch....what is better?

What other one has the best breakfast??

Im so excited! I am going to celebrate my birthday in december for the very first time in Disneyland. I have saved up sooooo much money so I can treat myself to some nice stuff!

I've been subscribed to this thread since earlier this year but it is OFFICIAL..

I'll be back to DISNEYLAND for the first time in 3 years this December!

For me, nothing's set in stone until the airfare is booked. I'll be there December 10th - 12th. I'm so excited, I could cry! There's literally no place that I am happier.

Our airfaire dropped by $500 by flying home a day later...so we added a day to our trip! Its kinda funny that we still save $ with the add'l hotel room cost!

We will be staying at Paradise Pier Hotel 12/25 - 1/3.

We have 8 day passes and are also planning to do a tour to Universal studios.
I wish that there were day tours to Big Bear Snow Play, but that doesn't seem to exist.

Does anyone have any other day tour suggestions? We will not be driving.

We will be there the 17-21 :yay: 1st time there at Christmas time and for my Birthday on the 20th:banana: After visiting DW this past June, I am so happy to be going back to DL, we miss it.
