December 2011 Check-In

Personally I would take as many days as I can get. My ideal during 'the non-Holiday seasons is to get in 5 full days and I would want at least one more day in December. The Holidays are an amazing time at Disneyland and there is a lot to take in that is specific to that time of the year. If you can swing it financially without breaking the bank I would recommend going for that extra day. How many days are you used to doing in February/March?

Thanks for the replies. We usually do 5 days and it has felt pretty perfect. My kids and I are huge on Christmas and disneyland, I'll probably be teary eyed half the time, lol. I was just concerned with 5 days being so perfect for us before, if 6 would be tiresome. Now after reading your replies I wish I could find a 7 day park hopper, lol!

Sherry- You're making me wish it was December already! I think I need to look at the big photo thread again.

;) Believe me, if I could do 7 days for the Holidays I would! All in all between my two trips in December last year I spent about 7 days and I still never got to see the Holiday fireworks which I'm kind of bummed about. Or Fantasmic for that matter now that I think about it. I would have loved to do a few more days or if I could ahve done them all in a row it would have been perfect. If you're worried about it becoming tiresome I definitely suggest just taking some off time and relaxing at the pool or doing somehting else in the area, and then just pick back up again later. There's so much to see during the Holidays that it's almost like you're exploring everything for the first time again. At least it was for me.

166 days left, and we picked our hotel! We'll be staying at the PPH. After much pricing and hotel debating, we signed up for AAA, and saved an extra $300 over any other deals.

On a side note, my name seems to be on the list twice? I think the 17-20th one is for someone else. We're going the 15-21st. :)

I'm a little nervous it will be hugely packed, but we'll just roll with it either way. I'm thrilled we're finally having a chance to see DL at Christmas!

We are going Dec. 27, 2011 to Jan. 1, 2012...Sheraton Park!

:thumbsup2 I've got you added to the OP!

I probably did some weird copy & paste thing. Oopsie on me! It should be fixed now though, thanks for picking that up! I've also edited your hotel! I hope it's not too packed for you. I'm trying to remember which days were absolutely insane last year. I know it was between Christmas and New Years but I can't remember what it was like the week before Christmas.

I am going to be there at a very similar windows, if you do not mind, what rate did you get? I am signing up for AP on this trip, and already have AAA and a few others, would love to find a great rate on property, but its gonna be close.

Thanks!

Allegiant airlines is having a sale which is making us consider a Christmas Trip to DL. My sons 7th birthday is on Dec 2 which would be so perfect. BUT isn't this the traditional weekend for the Candlelight Processional? We are looking at Thursday-Monday. Would you still go or avoid that weekend all together.

The Candlelight Processional will be held on 12/3 and 12/4 this year, barring any unforeseen changes in pattern. People say that whole weekend is very crowded, but the CP is no longer an event for which people can buy dinner packages and what not, so I'm not sure how much that affects crowds. It's more 'exclusive' now, as I was told - generally, you have to 'know' someone to get tickets to the CP or you have to be at the right place at the right time when Cast Members hand tickets out to random guests in the event of no-shows. So I'm not sure if making the CP more exclusive has cut down on crowds at all.

In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just plan wisely and know what to expect. It may be more crowded than you'd like but I think you'll still have a great time and it will be perfect for your son's birthday.

I'm scheduled to be at DLR over that same weekend (unless I alter my dates), but I am actually going to try to see the CP if I can score a ticket! It looks like a beautiful ceremony - and very Christmasy!

I'm putting something together for my DD's 5th birthday. We'll be staying Dec. 20-24, don't know where. We just got back from 2 weeks at the world in June. I'm having a girls only trip and have asked my mom who has early onset alzheimers to come along. She took my DD who was a baby and my 3 older kids to WDW in May 2007 so now I want the youngest to have some good memories with Mimi while she can. I hope that time of year isn't too stressful on her? You never know how she'll react. . .

I just want to wish you good luck taking your mom. I wish I had advice to give.

We are back to our original dates. 11.24 - 12.04

Sorry Jessica. :lmao:

Hahaha, darn you Kathy!! You're making my life difficult. :rotfl:

I'm not sure if we have "officially" booked anything yet, but it looks like we will be at DL (my first trip, DH was there when he was very young) for Dec 10-14. We'll arrive around 11AM that Saturday, and then check out on the 14th, rent a car, and drive to Vegas for the rest of the week and fly home on the 18th.

I can't wait!! :cheer2:

Four Generation family reunion heading to Disneyland December 21st through the 28th. We rented a great house just 3 miles away so that we still have the homey feeling for all the little ones for Christmas. We are doing 5 day Hopper Passes so that we can get the most out of the park. With so many little ones under 8 years of age they will tire easily so giving them fun at the house along with the park and beach. So excited as it has been almost 10 years since I have been there and the first time for so many family members. Thanks for all the tips this board has provided.
:dance3:
