I went out and bought my 2009 Unofficial Guide. I will ask "Santa" to bring me the 2009 Passporter. I am so excited and have read for hours. We are going to talk to the in laws this weekend about our plans and we should be booking with in the next couple of weeks. We are trying to book December 23-Jan 01.

How does the booking work? Is the entire stay charged to the credit card? Is there a payment schedule? When booking, do you use a TA or do it yourself?

I am reading a lot about DP vs no DP. Thoughts?

Thanks again for the valuable info.

You can pay for your stay all at once or if you're booking a package you put $200 down and can make payments. If you're booking room only, I think it's one nights deposit down. I've never used a TA but I've heard good things from those who have. I just like being in control of my ressie. However, once we join AAA this year, if I'll save $, they can do my ressie.

DDP or no DDP - that is a question. When we go to WDW with our kids and significant others, it saves us money to use the DDP. DH & I will be going alone in Dec 09 and I've priced out having the DDP and what we'll probably spend at restaurants (already picked them out!) and it will save me not to have the DDP by about $200.

Oh and congratulations on your trip!

I'm going in December of 09 as well! I think I might get my UG for 2009 tonight... you've inspired me :upsidedow The way I book with my agent is $200 down and 45 days before the trip you pay the rest. You can pay any amount in between but I just save up and pay all at once. As far as the DP goes... we did it our last trip and honestly weren't too fond of it. We had basic which was 1 counter service per day which consists of a food item like pizza or chicken nuggets, and a dessert. We never really wanted the dessert because we also had the snack credit per day... so we got an ice cream mickey or something. Then we had one table service which consisted of 1 entree and one dessert. The dessert with dinner was alright though. We bought muffins at a store before we got to the world so we didn't have to pay a ton for breakfast each morning. All in all I thought we might not get fed enough... but with the heat an excitement it ended up being just too much food actually. I have no clue how people do the deluxe dining plan. We opted out of the DP for our December 09 trip. I can see how it is beneficial for families, but not for a mid-20s couple. I can see how the wine and dine would be good though, as we had wine or a cocktail with each dinner...
