December 2007...who's going?

Has anyone told their kids yet? We're planning to tell them in November, a couple of weeks before our trip.

Nope, haven't told them yet. We'd have months of "when are we going to WDW? Is the trip next week?" ad naseum for weeks, probably, in stereo definitely!

So, we're planning to tell them the week before, on their birthday. I scored a couple of very cheap Toy Story beanies, so we'll wrap those up with a couple of WDW luggage tags, and a note telling them where we're going. That's if we can hold out long enough

My daughter has known for months! It's been keeping her going since her dad's been gone. I had someone get me a postcard of the castle a few months back and I'm going to send that out a week or so before the trip- from the "princesses"! She will just love that!

What are you planning on doing? How old are your kids?

Not sure how we're going to tell them yet, but I think we'll tell them around Thanksgiving when my parents are here. Our trip is actually a very generous gift from my parents, so I'd like for them to be here when we tell the boys. They also very graciously offered to take care of our 2 year old during the trip, so we're going with just the older 2 boys -6 & 8. We're planning to go to MVMCP one night, Chef Mickey's for dinner and Crystal Palace for breakfast. We're also planning to take advantage of the free one day passes to Sea World for the military. One night we're going to the campfire and hoping to have a photo session at the GF.

Is anyone going to be staying at CR during 12/13-12/16? Frist trip with DD2 and family is so excited to see her face when she meets Mickey for the first time. He is her hero!! Also DH first mvmcp on the 13th. Anyone going to that on the same day?

We are going 11/30 -12/5 Still unsure if a MVMCP is gonna happen. We are going for a second honeymoon, with no kids. We have had kids since we married, no sitters or other vacations or nights without them. We are totally looking forward to it after 11 yrs. YIPPEE.

For those of you that haven't told your children thought about using a Disney Enchanted Phone call, where you can arrange for one of the characters to call them about a trip, B-day, Christmas. I did this for my mother last December, she knew we were going, but she really enjoyed getting a call from Mickey. It costs $2.49/call and you choose and hear at leat part of the message that will be sent to your phone and they are so cute.

We can't wait... it's going to be a quick little getaway, but we need it.

I guess you could have it sent to any phone. I had one sent to mom's home phone one day about a week before our trip, then I had one sent to her cell phone on the morning we were in route to WDW.

It was so cute. The one I sent to her house was Mickey inviting her to a party at his house with several of the Fab Five. I don't remember the other one, but Mickey said something about seeing you real soon.

Well we have the Travel Channel.. it just doesnt seem the same one as yours. I've yet to see Disney on it. Im glad I didnt mention the call to the kids. Then i'd feel really bad.

Maybe you could set it up for after you leave Quebec or while you are in FL. Just a thought .

Hey, not telling mom was the fun part, she had no idea, she was just sitting in her recliner at home and the phone rang. I waited to hear from her, but gave up and called her and I busted out laughing. She was absolutely thrilled. Then when she got the one in the car on her cell phone, it was really hard to keep a straight face, because I knew it was another call.

We all our original dates and hotel changed due to some financial issues-new pool filter;new windows and a new washer!! But we'll be there-POR 12th-18th.I think the tree swap idea is great! Can't wait to see the World all decorated! We haven't told the kids-we'll wake them up that morning @ 4 for our 7am flight and tell them "Wake up-you're going to WDW NOW!" lol

Hi All -

We are going Dec 8-15, celebrating my son's 7th birthday. 44 days to go!! This is our 2nd trip to WDW. We're staying at POR, last time we were at AKL and it was fantastic! I hope we'll be happy with POR. We wanted AKL again or WL, but there was no availability with the discount code we had. Oh well. We will still have a fabulous time, I am sure.
