December 2,2006...Anyone want to join us?

We did not rebook - DH wants to see more of the USA before another cruise - the rest of my group is hooked and planning another one. The American Sign Language group ( marvin & tara ) are heading back onto the DCL on 12/30 for another cruise with some hearing impaired folks.

We were at table 74 at the 8 pm sitting - I found this to be too late to eat - our first cruise we ate at 6 and found that too early - and this was too late - when we cruise again - we will just go back to the 6 and deal with it...

I wish I had time to meet with you all during the cruise - I just found that I was always going - here there and everywhere - such a total blast!!!!

:cloud9:

:sad1: We too made it back home. Always good to go, but good to be home. Albeit sad, but good. We had a tremendous time...rebooked again  :Pinkbounc ! The whole experience totally exceeded our expectations.

Looked at my watch at 3:00 and knew I was supposed to be somewhere, but I was so excited about surprising my husband with an upgrade and had so many things on my mind I forgot. I met Momof6innc and KT27 and saw everyone's doors. DD had the time of her life and DS loved every minute of it. We were so busy and we can't wait to do it again.

On the airplane home, we did get to see the shuttle launch. Pretty cool end to a tremendous trip!

Not swaying anywhere but the shower...what's up with that?

Welcome home :guilty:
i had a wonderful trip. i did in cc got dumped off the bannana boat at least it made my sons day.
The intrepreters were EXCELLENT my bil is deaf and not only did they give my sister a huge break from intrepting everything they were very entertaining i found myself watching them during the shows
im going to rebook as soon as the fall 2008 dates are released
i bought a 5th wheel travel trailer before i left for the cruise so while i was down there i checked out ft wilderness needless to say were going there in sept
i was a pleasure to get to meet the people i did and i hpe everyone had as much as a magical cruise as we did.

miztigg -did you sit with us during the shows ? I recall all the families that were in the reserved section? My sister is Sharron (short hair ) and my BIL is Chip ( Blonde hair and glasses ) they made many friends on that cruise - I am sure your BIL was one of them!

I am finally able to find time to write. We made it home last night after spending a day at Disney. Back at work now :sad2: Anyway we had a fabulous time and No one got Sick :thumbsup2 Not even on the last night, I however didn't get much sleep with the closet doors rolling back and forth!

How awful to be stuck out on the verandah. One of our doors we never could get open, but it worked out ok because we just used the one.

We also rebooked for APril 08, but will change for a later time. I have to figure out what times will work with our schedules.

I am occasionaly still feeling the rocking motion, glad it isn't just me!

Well back to work I'm obviously a little behind!

We got home around midnight last night. What a trip! Both good and bad. My van's brakes had a computer error that prevented us from driving down in it! At the last minute we were able to borrow a friend's SUV and drive two cars down. I was not in the mood to have both of us drive the 10 hour drive, pay for gas twice, etc., but we made it (the drive home was surprisingly easy). The Residence inn had a $6/person round trip shuttle so we kept both cars there and it worked like a charm.

I met frye7127 and KT27 at the terminal (I convinced my family-3 parties) that we all MUST arrive at 10 am so we could get #2 boarding cards and get our boarding photo together--mission accomplished), but while talking to frye7127 I became speechless and had to run away. . .to see Captain Mickey walking through the Mickey ears!! We got lots of great pictures with him and Goofy too in the terminal. We got on early, ate at Parrot Cay (had the PLAPLAP rotation, so ate there again that night). The sail away party was GREAT!! Yes, very strange to not sail away, but I loved hearing the horn this time (I was at the Oceaneer club last time signing kids up and missed the whole thing). I made up for missing last time by dragging the whole family up there and dancing our hearts out. Did a repeat at Pirate night, but we stayed up on Deck 10 starboard side.

Our state room attendant was probably very new at his job. Granted, we made things a bit difficult because we had two quarantined children for two days, but he wouldn't put our bunk beds up during breakfast, only if we asked him to, and then seemed surprised we wanted them up. I told him every day we wanted them up during breakfast time and down during dinner time, gave him times, but he still didn't get it. He would put up the bunks at noon and then down again three hours later. We got three towel animals all week, and the kids were disappointed. I was going to ask him to do one for each child the last night but I forgot (since we had two cabins and none for 4 days in a row, I didn't think that was too much to ask.

However, as I said, we had quarantined children. Our 6 yo son threw up right outside Lumiere's during our second night's dinner. I was rushing him to the bathroom near the aft elevators, but we didn't make it in time. Good thing for the passengers that we decided to exit the front door and not walk through the restaurant to the side door! OK, enough of that. You get the picture. I really didn't want to go to the clinic, but by the next morning, he was still sick and so was the 3 yo. So off to the clinic they went, at 7 am, 48 hours quarantine. But it wasn't too bad. We got a letter from the guest services and we were treated like Concierge royalty! Each boy got a letter from their concierge team, we got books, games, crayons, coloring books, any crafts the boys missed at the kids' clubs, room service from any restaurant at any time. I finally figured out how the head server earns his tips. Stephane arranged for the dinner menu to be sent to our room during the morning, someone called us during the day for lunch and dinner requests, and we received whatever we wanted. Once Tom called room service and they said "sorry, you can't order cream of wheat in your category", but when we said the boys were quarantined and we had a letter from guest services, they brought it up right away. The concierge team made quarantine much more bearable for both the kids and grown ups.

Out of 8 kids in our party, only my 10 yo did not throw up the entire week. The ship was pretty rocky and I felt sick many nights ( still swaying now). But other things made up for it. I actually got to the fitness center, Tom and I used the elliptical machines while docked at Key West. Have any of you seen that place? IT's huge and has great equipment, great place to get away from the kiddie stuff and escape for awhile. . .NOT!! Here we were working out, watching whatever was on the TV, and Tom taps me. Captain Hook was checking out the equipment and Mr. Smee was pumping iron!! They just decided to check out the fitness room, but it was so funny seeing characters in there!!

Palo was great! Dad gave up his brunch seat so Tom came with me, my sister and mom. We had a great time! While eating we made a sharp right into the Key West port, and the ship's railing tilted at an awful angle against the horizon! But just as we leveled out, the water turned a beautiful turquoise and we were pulling into the port. It was beautiful! High tea was nice with my sisters and mother. The scones were amazing! I didn't get off in Grand Cayman. The doctor said the boys could get off the ship and infect, uh I mean inspect the island while on quarantine, so Tom took them for a walk. I had fun in the empty pools instead. Palo that night was nice, but I couldn't finish anything! I'm not used to drinking wine with dinner, and I almost cried when I couldn't finish my souffle! I was too stuffed.

Marvin and Tory were your interpreters??? They were so awesome!! I watched Dreams and watched them more than the actors!! I thought they were part of the Disney cast, they knew the script so well! I LOVED the part of the story during "I just can't wait to be King", where Zazu sang "I've never seen a king of Beasts with quite so little hair" and rubbed Marvin's bald head! SOOOO FUNNY! They were so animated and did a great job. And you got to be with them during the whole trip! How nice!

Best part of the trip? We got to stand on the deck 7 for a "cast off" party for the 15 members of my family. It was fun watching the scenery and the island was beautiful. The CM who planned the party had cocoa and cookies for us, but just as we were about to leave, Captain Mickey and Minnie came out to join us!!! I swear, I almost fainted!! So guess who's in my Christmas picture this year?? What a way to end the vacation!

Kids collected lots of pins (we told them they were not allowed to buy any non-DCL pins while on the ship), but my sister gave me the best present. Everyone teased me about my star struck reaction to Mickey Mouse everytime I saw him, and my sister gave me this photo today. All I can say is, it's completely accurate! I look a bit crazed, but the effect is perfect!

That's spooky.....we were at Palo Brunch on Sunday and also dinner on Grand Cayman night!

Ummmmm.....which day was the "special" one at the Spa? If it was Thursday, we're really spooked!! :rotfl2:

Sorry you had so many twists and turns during the week!

i sat behind the reserved sec my sis was lisa with very long hair her dh was mark bigger heavey set he was the one who was deaf. my mom and oter sister was there it was thier 1st cruise ever they has such a great time i think you guys sat near us at dinner we had second seating APLAPLA we were in the back right hand side

Somehow we sat in the section near the ASL interpreters for every show. They did such a wonderful job that I made a mental note to email my college aged DD (who didn't cruise with us) who is majoring in Speach Therapy - I wanted to tell her how surprised I was not to just see something being interpretted but also being acted. I saw the couple on the cruise, and told them what a great job I thought they did.

This was my first cruise ever, and I had a great time. We shared 2 rooms (DH and I in one, two DD's and one DNiece in the other). We had a great mousekeeper, Sarah. DD17 has never spoken to a housekeeper before, and thought that the reason Sarah was talking to her was because she knew we had three under-18 year olds in a room, and she would be calling the Disney police. It took a while for her to understand that this was different than hotels we had stayed at. During the cruise, the kids wrote on their wipe board "Thank you Sarah!".

We also had great servers! The kids were so impressed that they were called by name and that they remembered their favorite drinks and desserts. When our server first tried to name everyone (using their ages from the form), my dear niece thought it was because they memorized her picture ? (I was able to figure this out. We all got passports for this trip. She associated getting her passport with going on the cruise. I guess she thought the state department sent disney her pictures). The last night of the cruise, the kids all gave the server and his assistant big hugs!

Our stateroom hostess was kind of in the same mode as yours. We had two connecting rooms, but she only did towel animals for one room. Not that these should be an expectation, but our kids really love them and we did use both rooms. She also didn't get around to our room until after 12PM each day. Many times we came back to the rooms - bunk beds down and still uncleaned. She skipped a bathroom one day and that was it for my DW - who complained and then we had a "cool" relationship with the room hostess thereafter. She was very pleasant, but just didn't seem to have it all together. She was complaining about the next cruise and the lack of staff they have because of people leaving for the holidays (oddly our head server mentioned the same thing).

I'm sorry your kids got a stomach bug. It sounds like the crew does a great job of keeping everyone's spirits up even when the circumstances are a bit down. Hey a day cooped up in a Disney Magic stateroom is way better than be cooped up at home!

Clifford, our stateroom host, was great. He popped in Saturday afternoon around 3:00 to see if we had received all of our luggage. We were waiting for two pieces, he asked what they looked like and said he'd have them shortly. About 20 minutes later he was back with them.

He upped the ante with towel animals...he took the spare blanket and we had blanket animals each night. Needless to say his tip exceeded the recommended amount

Hey a day cooped up in a Disney Magic stateroom is way better than be cooped up at home!

Ain't that the truth!

No, our "special spa day" wasn't the same as yours! Now THAT would have been really spooky! And the ONLY thing I will say about that experience is that after all the talk about DCL cutting back on the time allotted for a few different spa treatments, they didn't stick to the exact allotted time specified online. Much ado about nothing.

Does anyone know what kind of training it takes to be a character body guard? Those people are very confident and firm (some might say ruthless). I think it's an interesting job. DD thought one was rude when she tried to get an autograph, but understood the importance of being on time to events, telling some kids that that was the last child that would get a photo/autograph. DS got a magical moment (not official) with Goofy. He was quarantined during the Goofy sleepover, so missed his favorite character. But later we spotted him posing outside Preludes on Semi formal night and walked over. Goofy finished with the little boy and then they started walking away. I told DS, oh, he has to leave now. The "bodyguard" said "oh, you want a picture with him? We can do one more". MADE DS'S DAY!! His own picture with Goofy, all dressed up! As they were walking away, they both stayed in character for DS, joking how Goofy's suspenders were falling down. Goofy followed us all the way to the elevator and DS kept grinning, whispering "is he still right behind us?"

Did anyone have Vivian (assistant server) and Depesh (server)? We had them and they were fantastic! They did the "nothing" for dessert trick on my parents (both got it with a hidden mickey in the corner as well). They were awesome! Vivian's husband is Aleksander from Croatia up at Palo. He was our waiter the one night we didn't eat in the main dining rooms. Both were excellent!

Very true! The "10 minute" knock came after we had been locked in for just over 50 minutes or so. They certainly weren't clock watchers....and they did sya there were plenty of towels already in the room... :rotfl2:

Glad that your DS had a special moment with Goofy. Funny how the little things the CMs do go a LONG way.

I'm not sure we ever got a knock...but nothing was said when we came out probably 10 or more minutes late. Hey...we were enjoying our time in there. My husband absolutely loved it!!! Next time, he says, a massage and a rasul. He is still talking about it. :rotfl:

The rocking and rolling for once did not bother me! I felt it but I took Mechlazine (sp?) and that seemed to work like a charm. On our last cruise I layed in bed completely green when the ship was rocking and rollin.

DH ended up with the flu on Sunday. I am so glad he waited until we got home though I would of hated for him to be quarantined. It just came out of nowhere.

I slept all day Sat. after we got home, I was hoping I would beat the swaying feeling. Alas on Sunday while out and about I felt it ALOT.

drclaws: Your stateroom host rocked! The last cruise we had a great stateroom host, so much we went looking for him on this cruise. It was good to know he was still on the ship. Our host this time was just o.k. There was no magic at all. He just didn't seem like he wanted to deal with the cruisers. We tried to talk to him. He just did his job and then disappeared.

I have been as sick as a dog since yesterday. Not my stomach or anything - just a severe HEAD cold that is making me sound like BORIS KARLOFF. And the HEADACHEEEEEEEEE oh my goodness. I am not sure where I may have gotten it - since the plane ride home was next to a child who coughed and sputtered all over us. Her mom tried to keep her mouth covered but that stuff is airborne and I honestly feel that is where I got it.

Since I work in a Hospital, I will need to report it today to our Employee Nurse to have an assessment. YUKKY!! I wanna be on a nice warm ship baking in the sun....

We all have been fighting a little something. Yesterday, I finally felt myself somewhat. My husband has it worst of all. I think it is just a change in climate...definitely send us back to the warmth of Grand Cayman or Cozumel. I would like to say Castaway Cay, but you all know how that day was.

i was lucky i had a wonderful staff for out waiters we had adrian and adiyta they were AWESOME with the kids us for our stateroom host we had geraminimo he was great one of my drinking days keywest when we got back on the ship i was yelling down the hall to him gerinimooooooo so for the rest of the week him and the kids would yell down the hall every time they saw each other. the only issie i had was with the heas watier the big italian guy on that same drinking day (it was sunday we went to thr rum barrel to watch the football games it was 3.00 absloutes whats a girl to do) anyway back to the story i had a bunch of tables together and he went and moved everyone around :furious: so i simply told him to fix it buy tommrow and he is going to stand there and argue with a drunk girl i startred to yell at him and at some point i called him luigi :rotfl: well now everyone was laughing either at me or because of his face when i called him luigi needless to say we were fixed by the next night
always: im glad your family and mine had a wonderful time we are going in nov 2008 the 1st or 2nd week whenever the eastern is if we get everyone to go again maybe we can get the interpters again on thier 1st cruise because there was only them they coulnt get them
