Does anyone know what kind of rates are available for the first 2 weeks in December? How are the crowds? How is the weather? Is this a good time to go? Would you take a 1 year old to Mickey's Christmas Party?

I would suggest looking at my poll on the Resort Board to see how the crowds will be. It's the first day, so check back on it after tomorrow. As far as rates go, I think they still have that package where kids go for free with Disney Visa. You can go to www.mousesavers.com for more discounts. Also www.wdwinfo.com has lots of great info.

As for your second question, I am going to the party with my baby who will turn 1 the day we get there. She is not much for being up late at this point, so I'm not sure how it will go, but this kind of thing only happens once a year, so we're not going to miss it. Just DON'T go on a Fri. or Sat. night because -

and go as early in the month as possible.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! (to be at Walt Disney World)

We always go in November or December and love it.

It is value rate season (least expensive). Check the official sight for rack rates and mousesavers for possible discounts. This year we have an AP rate at WL-Woods View for $125.00 (regularly $219.00), but there weren't many discounted rooms this year.

The crowds are some of the lowest. Not like it use to be maybe 10 years ago, but a great time to go.

There is only one word to describe the weather...unpredictable! We went to the Luau in 2001 (I think) and they put up screens to block the wind and turned on heaters. I think the low was in the 30's! But it has never been that cold for our whole trip. We always squeak out a day at a water park. Just check the weather sites as your date gets near and you'll know how to pack. Pick the warmest day for the water park and work from there. Keep in mind that we are from Michigan so even 70 is a heat wave to us in December!

Were going early December and we got a very good price thru AAA and I've heard the crowds aren't that bad...

We spent the first week in Dec of 2000 at the CBR the weather was cool for Florida but nice for us, 60's upper and lower. No rain!
We even managed a pool day. The night's were kinda chilly, but when we went to Mickeys holiday parade it went well with the hot cocoa. The crowds were low most rides were walk on. It will never compare to the parks 2 weeks after 9/11 though we had the place to ourselves. Value seasons are great times to go if you want lower crowds, just keep in mind the weather trade off.

HI,
I am also a little concern about this time frame we are looking at trying to go, and when I called to make reservations at AKL , they only had a few room types left. THye told me it was busy because of MVMCP. We have been down before in Dec and I never notice that much of a difference because of MVMCP??

SO I'm really confused. I do have ressies at AKL conceirge level for a little over 200 a night.. Is that a good rate?

I've been in early December and the crowds have been low. As stated before the weather is unpredictable. We've been able to wear shorts and t's, and on other trips had to wear coats and hats!

As for rates, I'm going Dec 2-12 and was able to get an AP rate of $89 water view at POR.

Good luck! It really is a nice time to go, the MVMCP is great, the only thing about taking a 1 year old may be how late it is, if they can handle that w/out getting cranky...and if you've never been I think it would be a nice experience!

I usually go this time of the year. It's the best.Low crowds but all the Christmas decorations are up.I booked a winter dreamaker package at a very good rate. Our trip starts Dec.6th but we have to wait until the 7th for our room at the Poly because it was completely booked.Plan on weather of every kind. We've had it in the 80's and the 40's.One tip don't go near the Magic Kingdom or MVMCP on Saturday.

Thanks for all the info in this post! We're also going in early December and got great rates!! I just hope the crowds are as low as I've heard and that the weather cooperates! I am so excited about the MVMCP, I can hardly stand it!!!!! :Pinkbounc Can you tell it's our first Christmas with Mickey??::MickeyMo
