December 17, 2006 4-Night Wonder Cruise

Hi all!
Kathy-glad to have you back. What a great idea to add the 3 nighter to our 4. Hope that works out for you.
I have been dreaming up our next vacation. I like to have one on the calendar and have one in the hopper (my head, that is!). I think I want to try to rebook a 7 night DCL Eastern while on board. I just have to do some really strong convincing of the DH. I don't see how we could swing another trip all the way to Florida in 2007 so it might have to be 2008.
Of course that means I need to think of something for 2007! I have a hunch it will be Mexico. Sure would be nice to have unlimited resources so all this meticulous long range planning wouldn't be necessary!
For that matter, it would be nice to live closer to Florida and the Caribbean! But, then again, Hawaii last month was nice--and only a 5 hour flight. Rough life we all lead, I know... ;)

So, any more out there? I saw a post earlier of someone going on a cruise in October and considering also going on ours in Dec wondering if waiting to book it on board would be cheaper than now...can't find it now but maybe they'll see this thread! C'MON aboard! We don't bite!! :grouphug:

Tammy--have a great time at WDW next month. I hope to spend that much time there someday--especially for the F&G fest. I just might have to go with someone other than the DH. It is not that we get to travel together much---maybe 2-3 weekends a year, but he is not much fun. Long story short, we have been married almost 17 years and happy at that but, we have different ideas about travel. As soon as the kids are old enough, I can see us going places separately---say he to Alaska to fish, me to Jamaica to bake.

So, hope your Easters were good! Ours was.
till later-
Marcy

Funny Marcy! My husband is not too much fun either. But, maybe he and I could go away together to reconnect, you know. We are married 17 years this year too. My kids are still young, and making memories with them while they are young is so important to me. I want them to travel and not be afraid to strike out and see the world if they want. So, I just take them and leave the ole hubby at home.

We are able to take these trips this year for two reasons: DVC and Annual Passes. I bit the bullet and bought AP's last December and I have borrowed points until September 2008 in order to "fund" trips on this pass, and then I am taking a Disney break for a while. We are doing the December 2007 seven night cruise (already booked SPH 5020) and something else next summer like Vero Beach or something. My husband liked Vero. I can just rent points for that. Maybe Hilton Head, my husband has been but not me.

We are flying on Southwest out of St. Louis, 69 dollars each way, and I have an SUV reserved through Alamo for 195 total for almost two weeks trip. I plan on getting the dining plan for the three of us. My son eats like a horse and he is more subdued when full. Teenagers!!

So this next trip is really very inexpensive, just food and transportation. And, of course, with annual passes, you feel like a dweeb if you don't get your "money's" worth out of them. Using them for multiple trips saves money  Right? :rotfl: :rolleyes1

I am off! I have a hundred things to do today!!

See you later!

Page three? Oh my, we have to do better than that! I think I need to put a link in my signature to this cruise! Okay, back to page one. I feel better. :sunny:

Yeah, gotta get us back to the top now and then to see if there any more Dissers sailing with us.

I emailed my TA late last week to put some more $$ on the credit card toward this cruise but no response! I am giving her till monday, and the benefit of the doubt that maybe she is on vacation or something.
I haven't had any contact with her (and really no reason to) for months.
Guess I am hoping she is still out there. I worried a bit when I booked a cruise 2 years in advance! DCL has our reservation. Can I make a payment directly through them?
Well, I am not worrying yet....

We had such nice weather here yesterday, sunny and almost 70. A treat compared to the last several months. Unfortunately it is back to WINDY! and I mean WINDY. Some clouds and about 50. Just makes me want to be on vacation...by a pool, at an amusement park, or best yet---on a ship! :sunny:

We can see if we can at least keep our thread hot!

Marcy

Marcy,

Don't worry about that TA. They will get back to you. Dreams does make it easy to make payments, we booked through them. Although I plan to pay the whole kaboodle in one lump sum after I get paid for my summer teaching. :sunny:

I am getting excited, there is less than 8 months to go!

I am going off house hunting! I will be back on Wednesday. I don't look forward to this, I think they will all run together after awhile. Also, I don't relish the thought of a mortgage payment. I am afraid I am hitting the house market as it is getting ready to deflate. That could be bad if prices are going down.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I am starting to think this is not a very popular cruise time, we have had so few disers pop in. I am real excited about the cruise. I am taking my brother on this cruise and I want everything to be perfect! He has been a big help to me in doing my dissertation and this is my way of saying thanks. He is real excited about the cruise, I think.

My son only has two weeks of school left and he has alot of work to do. I just hope that he passes on to the ninth grade. It is going to be a close call. I have almost resigned myself to accept whatever recommendation that the teachers have. He put himself in this situation by being lazy, he can do the work and does good on the tests, but often doesn't do his homework. He also lies about the homework that he has. I know I am not alone and that other people have had this same problem but it is emotionally taxing nonetheless.

On a brighter note, we think we might have a house picked out where we are moving and are working on the financing. :cheer2:

Okay, I am looking at the bright side of the lack of response from other Dissers to our cruise meets thread...
Maybe that means fewer return (Castaway Club) cruisers--meaning fewer people at the Captain's reception--more drinks for the rest of us; and a much shorter line (or no line!) to check in at the CC desk!

Really, I would love to hear from others too. Maybe they will crawl out of the wood work in the next few months. There are always those last minute planners (and I would call 4-5 months out Last Minute!! :lmao: ) that realize these boards are a Godsend!
But in the meantime, we can chat and look forward to chatting in person on deck chairs at the Quiet Cove Pool with "fruity-girly" drinks (as my DH calls them!).

Good luck with your son...I am not there yet...my kids are 5 and 9. So far they both LOVE school and are exceling. Maybe there is another area where he could show effort and success? Computers? Sports?
Kids!! Wadda Ya gonna do?!?

Hope you find a house soon! House hunting is exciting but stressful at the
same time. Pixie Dust with that too! pixiedust:

I have actually been offline for a few days now...my kids spilled soda on the keyboard and didn't tell me! I discovered it later when the keyboard wasn't working right and I picked it up and poured out a couple ounces of liquid! :badpc: Sufficed to say, we had to get a new one--and in our small town, one cannot just go out and purchase and Apple/Mac keyboard. Ordered it by phone (NOT online! Ha!) and waited a few days for it. Have you gone a few days in a row without a computer recently?? It is amazing how much a part of our lives it really has become!

Desperate Housewives in 30 minutes....enough time to finish dishes!
Bye!
Marcy

Ahh!! Fruity-Girly drinks! They are my favorite.

I got really stressed out about the house hunting but this morning in church, a peaceful feeling came over me, and I got the feeling that I shouldn't stress about it anymore. So I am not going to.

I think I will go over to the community board and find out if anyone knows of any temporary furnished housing and how do you find it.

See you guys later.

Tammy

Hi Guys! I'm thinking about joining you, but I haven't made the decision yet. I will most likely be cruising solo. I am single, no kids and I can't seem to convince any of my friends to join me. The single supplement is the one thing that is really holding me back. The other is that I will have to cancel my August WDW trip with free dining.

Other then that it looks perfect! I have wanted to do a Disney cruise for years now, and this one sneaks in perfectly between the end of school (I am a high school teacher) and Christmas. Hope to meet you in a few months!

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

If you join us, we promise to have a fruity girly drink with you on the deck. :thumbsup2

I have two kids but my husband is not going, so I am bringing my younger (27) brother with me. He is not married but is really looking forward to the trip. I can't believe you can't find a friend that is willing to come along. If I were your friend, I would be there or be square!!

I think this is a great time too. And the price is much better than the later trips that fall over the holiday. I think it will be a good time for all.

This thread has been slow lately but I have two threads going as I have two cruises planned, this one and another in December 2007.

I have never been on a cruise but I have also wanted too for ages. But, that free dining would be hard to resist. It looks like you have a hard decision to make. But you know, in December, you are less likely to be affected by hurricanes. That would be a deciding factor for me. I don't like to travel during hurricane season, especially with the ones we have had. I spent a week at Vero Beach last august and it was fine, but I was a bit anxious about the hurricane possibilities.

Good luck with your decision.

Tammy

Hi Melissa - Please join us! :thumbsup2 The more the merrier. If you book this cruise and hang out here for a while, you'll already "know" a bunch of us by then. (And, hopefully, after you get to know us, you will not be sorry you booked! :rotfl2: )

I also cannot believe none of your friends want to come. :confused3 Maybe you should send/show them the video from the Disney Cruise Line Vacation Planner kit?

Just in case you did not see it yet, Dreams Unlimited has a nice discounted rate for this cruise. :goodvibes

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! The more I think about it, the more it seems like the cruise the way to go! I'm looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months!

Melissa

Well, I have accomplished the first step. I canceled my Disney World vacation this morning. I figure that I can spend a few days at Disneyland over the summer if I really need a Disney fix. Now I just need to see which travel agent comes back with the best quote to make it official!

Melissa

Sounds great, Melissa! Let us know when you are all set to be onboard!

This should be a great cruise - Christmas decorations and snow on CC! :santa:

I don't want to wish the summer away, but I can't wait for this cruise! :boat:

Hi all!! I know you guys will be happy to hear that I am off to WDW tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo. See you guys when I get back.

I hope you're having a wonderful time at Disney World Tammy! Tell us all about it when you get back!

Melissa

I just got back and had a great time. We did the dining plan and it was a fantastic deal. We ate at Le Cellier twice. The weather was hot during the day but nice and breezy at night. We saw a significant increase in crowds for Memorial day and it stayed busy.

Gotta do laundry...See you guys later.

Hello, I'm scheduled for this cruise. We have a Magical Gatherings group of 14. I can't wait!!! I don't mean to sound dunb but are the initials for your names or do they mean something else? I keep seeing DD and other initials everywhere on these forums.

Helo again, anyone been on a Disney Criuse before? I'm looking for info on the kids clubs.
