December 13, 2008 Western Caribbean!! Let's get acquainted!

woohoo on getting your ressies all!! I am overly jealous as a first time cruiser! Anyone help me when we should do palo? Casey said he wants to do it for my birthday ( which isnt till the 23rd) and I was thinking Thursday maybe? I dont know! I cant believe we are getting so close!!
Weclome Debs! Our group is really taking off!

(noticed we have a lot of Clampetting going on, maybe I should do tshirts saying The Clampetts have invaded the Magic! lol)

Marcy, John glad you got through on DCL website. I did notice they had alot of openings still available last night.

Wow John, I hope our server doesn't push us like that. We didn't have any problems with our last server (Christian) But then again we order a bottle of Rosa (Banfi) as soon as they come up and that was that.

Mandy, Our pug's name is Kasey (after Kasey kahne) he is 3 and is my big baby. He is spoiled something terrible.

Let me know how many and what sizes you want!:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Sorry about my English slang. By 'cocked up', I mean they made a big mistake, but as it was truelly in our favour, I was very happy.

Hello everyone. Just been booking excursions :woohoo: :woohoo:

and Got DS registered in the Kids Club :dance3: :dance3:

What excursions are you all going on? I really fancy the zip lines and snorkelling in Cozumel, but I am not very fit and on the large side! 245lbs so don't know whether I ought to book that. DS would love it :cool1:

Catch up with you all soon. Debz xxx

Yeah! I'm so glad it worked out for you. Dave did you book Palo because you can? You had to book SOMETHING!:confused3

I logged in around 9:30 Pacific just to see if it would let me, but didn't actually book anything. DW and I decided not to do Palo. We still aren't sure if our kids will let us enjoy a quiet dinner or not. On the last cruise we tried to send the to the kids club one night while we ate, but they paged us halfway through. I think they might be better about the kids club this year, but I wouldn't want to jeopardize Palo's if they aren't.

Congrats again to all those that got their reservations.

Dweitzel- thats my concern, that the girls won't let us get through dinner...
Debz- you are brave to even consider the zipline, the thought alone is enough to make me shiver! Only excursion we plan on is the Dolphin Swim with my girls, but are having second thoughts on that now...

We like to do Palo on the sea days...
Dinner on Monday night 8:00pm
Brunch on Thursday 10:30am
We have always had an exquisite time at Palo. Service couldn't have been better. We usually get the wine package on the first day anyway, so we have that already taken care of. And I love dressing up. We live in a small town with little opportunity to get fancy.:cutie:

We are only doing excursions on GC and CC.
Snorkel/stingray City catamaran thing on GC
The Eco tour jet ski thing (me & DD11) and
Bottom Fishing for the boys (DH & DD7)

This is way more than we've ever done! Our last cruise was the 4 night wonder and we got a day room at Atlantis for the perks (pools, Dig,etc)
And on our Mex Riviera we didn't do any excursions, just enjoyed the boat.

I definitely want to wonder around Key West, but Cozumel may be just a quick look around. We HATE the vendors pushing all that Mexican trinket stuff.

Hey- funny t-shirt design. I actually never knew that the Beverly Hillbillies' last name was Clampett:rolleyes: Guess it wasn't show I watched much. I get it now!

Marcy

Ewww Marcy, I never thought about the vendors pushing stuff, I would love to just stay on the boat but none of us have ever been out of the states, I just dont know!!

I only knew the Clampetts because Casey (DH) loves those old shows, he loves the Hillbillies and Andy Griffith and stuff like that, plus he loves his talking head shows about politics...he isnt into mainstream tv lol

We are doing Palo Sunday night at 7:00, I was going to have DD join us but decided this is DH and I's 20th anniversary cruise so I booked just him and I. We did this the same time last cruise and it worked out good.

brunch Monday at 11:00, DD will join us for this.

Nothing booked for G.C we will just jump in a taxi and go to hell and the turtle farm. We will hit the little rum shops for free samples! YUM!!:cool1:

Cozomel we again will just jump in a taxi and go to Paradise Beach for the day. We will probably come back into town about 2.5 hours to 3 hours before the ship leaves to do some quick browsing.

CC I booked stingray encounter for the kids, and the parasailing for DH and I. The kids are scared to death of heights.:confused3 DD will take DS to do this while DH and I parasail.

I really was disappointed that they did away with the banana boat. We loved that.

We have never had any problems with venders in G.C. Or Cozomel pushing stuff on us. Hopefully it won't happen this trip either. That is just not fun.

We usually just rent a car or scooter but DH decided he just wants to do a taxi this time. We found bringing the scooter back was easy, finding a gas station was the HARD PART.

DH isn't the group excursion type guy, he likes to move around at his own pace. I did look at the zip line excursion but I KNOW I WOULD BE THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD DO IT.

I grew up watching the Beverly Hillbillies, Adams Family, Andy Griffith, F-Troop

I love all those old shows!! I actually have F-Troop on DVD.

Michele, Casey is like your DH, he does not like group things, he doesnt like crowds much so that is why I really am trying to stay away from the excursions, is jumping a cab to the places you were talking about pretty easy? That would be great for us if it is, what you are talking about is exactly what we would love to do, even the same places to be honest, esp if we decide to skip the dolphins. I only worry about the whole car seat thing in cabs and dont want to lug them, Katie is the size of a 6-7 yr old and is in a booster but Carrie is an avg 2 yr old.

Ahhh another old show lover, you and Case will get along, now tell him you are all into politics, talk radio and history trivia and he may fall in love lol

Lucinda, the taxi's are waiting when you get off the ship. I can't help in the car seat area as DS has never needed one when we cruised. (well he probably should of used one but didn't).

I hate politics..The only thing I listen to on the radio is COUNTRY music.;) I'm not much of a trivia person, although DD seems to know everything about DISNEY and DH Knows everything about movies.

I'm the boring one, If it isn't NASCAR, trucks, or horses I'm out of the loop.

Well I do the Nascar and truck thing, he is really out of that, Casey likes OLD COUNTRY, we are talking Cash and Williams stuff, me ahhh not so much lol.

Ty for the taxi info, appreciate it.

I just the huge FE thread, I just dont think I can make one and it not look like crap....I may be ebaying it!

Here is my Fish extender. It needs a dowel and ribbon but is otherwise done.
It's so big that people are going to walk by and get tangled in it...How very Clampettish!:snooty:

Here's a close up-I had to get FAR away to get the whole thing in.

Before you think I have sewing skills you should know I cheated and printed it all out on iron ons. Not a darn bit of real embroidery on the whole thing!;)

PS Please disregard the Clampett dirt on the ktchen floor, I was too excited to mop before posting!

howdy y'all,
we got all of our ressies, yeehaw! palo, GC tour, KW tour and spa treatments. it looked like some excursions were different from the printed book they sent us? the site was running a bit squirrelly but we got it done. i think we're staying on the boat in cozumel, kind of feel like we've been there done that with the mexican riviera itinerary...glad to see all the excitement on our board. does anyone know if you can rent hobiecats or similar 1-2 person sailboat/watercraft on CC?

Andrea I love your FE!! You can make mine now! lol
Where did you get the cute mickey heads with names?
( Wow, Clampett is really becoming a staple word around here lol)

Glad you got your ressies Sommer! I am so jealous guys, I think me and KatKat are the only first timers!

Well, it was like slogging through molassas, but I managed to get all of our Palo, spa, and excursion reservations into DCL's system!
Got all the times I wanted and everything!:cheer2:

Hey Brenda (Skallywag)-- Didn't you just get off the Magic on the eastbound repo through the Panama Canal? Wow, after 14 days, to think you get another 7 in December! Lucky!!
How was the repo?

Marcy

Hi Marcy,

Yes we got off the magic on the 1st September and have been home just over a week now. Cruise was great butvery disappointed this time in the food and most times we did not even bother to go to dinner - have put my views to DCL of course.

:thumbsup2 Hi all,
The reservations page seems to be working great now...

Just did brunch as the last two dinners weren't that great, especially when the waiter is trying to push wine at the next table at $100.00 a bottle.. He lost $$$ not me, the longer we waited for something the less $$$ he got..
I hope he sold a lot of wine that night..

Hope you all get what you needed, there still seems to be plenty of ressie's for dinner...
Have a nice weekend,
gg

Strange about the waiter trying to push expensive wines. We had one on our E/B Panama. Our friends treated us and it was our first dinner there. He insisted on calling me sweetie the whole time and tried to persuade us to purchase a $228 bottle of champagne. Still very concerned and annoyed as our friends paid and wonder just how much he did get out of them. Would definitely not bother again as food was not that good and I had expected an Italian flavour which it definitely was not.
