December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

Having said that, I think the reason no one answered your fish extender question is because the list of FE participants was open to anyone, but officially closed on November 15, so that folks could plan and buy their items to drop at other rooms. People on this thread are super nice, and they don't like to say no, I think. I may be putting words in their mouths, tho.:cool1:

I didn't see the question I guess. My eyes are still blurry from doing so much shopping yesterday :rotfl:. Really? :confused3 None of us answered? Weird.

Orlando is spot on about the FE thing. The reason that the FE list was closed was so that the people who bought/made things that were time consuming or whatever the case may be, had time to complete them and not try and come up with more at the last minute as the "late comers" trickled in. However, none of us purposely ignored the question.....in my case, just busy. BTW...anyone want to help with the Christmas party I'm in charge of for 300 people in 4 days?

I have spent countless hours on my FE gifts, but I knew that there would be those who wanted to participate. So, I made a few extra. Again, you may not have exactly what everyone else has, but from me it will be an equal gift. I have enough for another participant .

Just getting my FE stuff organized... Scooby.. I see you have 2 cabins.. are the two adults separate families or a couple? I am doing 1 gift per adult family group and then the kids separately... as opposed to cabin groupings?

Yeah, we're one family.

I think I changed the cabin number already, but everyone should be aware that there may be some upgrades and cabin number changes. Bring your list to the Dis' meet - 3 pm Promenade Lounge - so that changes can be announced.

Everyone has gone to enough trouble, we want to make sure the gifts get to everyone.

I'm fine with adding another family to the FE if that is the group decision. However, as 2 weeks from now we will be in the terminal preparing to board, I'd ask that this be the final addition. Since it's supposed to snow here today, it might be a good time to start packing.

OH...DD had friends sleep over, and they all crashed on the living room floor. I've been informed that I type too loudly! (they're all still sort of asleep and the computer is in the living room)

Availability same--only cat 4 and 5 showing on line to choose rooms. All others are gty. Looks like DCL had reasonable success with the TA and CM promotions. Oh well. I had seriously contemplated an upgrade, but our cruise had higher FL res rates than many other dates (we have 2 homes and finally qualified for FL res ID!) I had actually set a limit on what I was willing to pay for the upgrade, and the rates for our dates exceeded that. The week before would have met it!

Yes, I got the same letter last week about booking Palo and stuff--odd since the booking opened months ago and we're already booked. Small thing maybe, till you figure that DCL just spent $400 on postage if they sent one to each cabin.

If any of you are considering rebooking on board for either the 2010 Trans-Atlantics or the April/May Med cruises, those rates have come down considerably. They made cat 12 available for $200 less than a cat 11 (per person)...I bumped down because it was cheaper even though I lost the 10%. I considered adding a med, but have already purchased air for the TAs.

Yowza- ok I've had two cups of joe and I am wired and starting to pack. I can't believe the trip is just around the corner and I'm more excited about this cruise than my previous ones. It's my first Disney and I hope it lives up to all the hype.

I can see why they charge a fortune, the brochures and the plastic luggage tags are fancy. I've never seen such fancy pre cruise documents. I've loaded up on sunscreen and my eyes are officially glazed over from DIS board reading. I don't think my brain can hold one more Disney fact.

Can anyone tell me some inside scoop on the terminal parking. We are driving to the port and I know they have parking but should we arrive? I don't know if they run out of parking spaces????:yay:

I filled out my documents online but they also sent me the same travel documents in the mail---what's up w that?

I would love to hear what excursions or shopping adventures you fellow cruisers have planned.... I was thinking of just staying onboard during Key West unless there are some fun and funky stores.

If you park at the terminal, I believe there is plenty of parking, but they charge $15 per day. :scared1: I am having my parents drive us to the terminal and drop us off. HOWEVER. If you are not going on the boat, you can't enter the fenced area, so they will have to drop us off outside the gate and we will have to walk to the terminal with all our luggage. So, we are planning on rolling suitcases with handles, with carryons strapped on top.

Key West is a fun, funky town, with lots of neat stores. There are also street performers on Mallory Dock, near the cruise ship terminal. It's a fun and safe town; me personally, I would plan on at least a little exploration.

Two more weeks!!!!!

.

I have to agree. By nature I want to be friendly and not exclude anyone but I also don't want to keep adding. I did wait until the deadline to pick up a few things based on that number.

Many people stay at a hotel the night before and the hotel will allow you to keep your car there while on the cruise. Most of the time it is free, however, some now charge, but fee is way cheaper than $15 a day at port. Then you take the hotel shuttle to the port and they'll pick you up.

Bev,
Do you have any pics of the residential hallways? I'm just wondering about the layout and they distance between doors. And do the doors open near eachother or are they all equal distance apart.

I just looked and could not find one.

WooHoo! Our passports are already done and in the mail on the way to us! Applied for them last Thursday and was worried we wouldn't get them in time and I would have to fork out another $200 to get new birth certificates...but don't have to now!!!

As for excursions, we are doing the Trolley Tour in Key West, so we can see as much of it as we can. In Coz we are hitting Paradise Beach...so excited for that! In Grand Cayman, we are doing Captain Marvins island tour and staying at 7 Mile Beach for a bit afterwards. In CC, we will just the included beach stuff.

What kind of party are you throwing?

A church Christmas party. Kind of the big hurrah for the year. Dinner and program. I have a committe, but feel like so much of the prep only I can do. They'll be there to help decorate, but I'll be glad to have it over with so I can concentrate on our trip.

Orlando36 - Thanks for the answers! This helps a lot!! I was afraid we were out of the loop on something and would be left out of a lot. Booking this trip at the last minute was a very out-of-character thing for a planner like me! I know my daughter and I will have a wonderful time!
How old are your children? My daughter will be turning 11 while we are on the cruise. Should be a lot of fun!

if you can, join us for the DIS meet at 3 the first day. There are a lot of DD 11 on this trip.

will do what I can - we leave in 5 days and not sure how much time I have to run out - just finished up with the chasing Wed night.
