December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

Oops you caught me slacking we are having a pre party here and the house is full of Twilight fans getting ready to attend the show. Let me go see what mystery photo i can come up with.

I would recommend Mr. Sanchos and Playa Palancar beaches. They are both free. It is polite to order drinks from the business if you want to sit in their chairs. They both have nice beaches, cheap massages (relatively), good snorkeling. Not much for food.

If you just want a beach, go to the unprotected side of the island. Beautiful and uncrowded. Do not swim there though. Currents are too tough.

If you can drive in Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis or Salt Lake City can drive in Cozumel. And navigation is a joke.

If you decide to drive, there are some things that you should know "buy the insurance". In Mexico, you cannot leave the scene of an accident until a lawyer shows up. This insurance will get you a lawyer. This is according to my brother who lived there. And cabs are a nice alternative. Then you can have your margaritas:) I've found them reliable and fair.

Xcaret is really nice, but it takes a long time to get there and back, you spend half of your time commuting to the main land.

Can't wait to meet everyone. See you soon.

Hey, Bevtoy... where's today's picture?

WHo can identify the locations of this photo?

Our dog had 16 teeth extracted on this visit. That's what drove the price out of control!

We're doing Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. Though there is a charge, unlike Paradise Beach, it is still significantly cheaper than what DCL was going to charge for their beach excursion, and it includes free food, drinks, etc. What we really like is the swimming pool, since we tend to swim in the pool and just wade in the surf when we go to the beach with the little ones, and also the fact that the crowds will be lower. Time allowed, I may also look into a massage since the $70/hr is much cheaper than on the ship. (In fact, I've already canceled my massage I'd had scheduled for the next day on the ship!)

How much is Nachi Cocom? Cab ride or booked excursion?

Hey, Bevtoy... where's today's picture?

I've driven in TJ, Ensenada, and some way crazy places. I'd be okay, but if cabs are that cheap, it's just as easy, less headache.

I have had a cab company try and change their fare in Cozumel. He quickly retracted when we weren't backing down, and he even tried to charge us more before we even got in. On the flip side, a different driver stayed at the private beach with us, and waited until we were ready to go and took us back to port. Good and bad, just like anything else.

Newcomers.....We have bracelets still available. $1.49 each, and I can either ship them to you, or we can give them to you at the Dis' meet. Several pages back is an example.

Bev, got your money today...thanks. Disneyfan, did you get your package yet?

We're getting so excited here! I keep thinking t-shirts and magnets are done, but I keep getting sucked into doing more.

Pamrob, sorry to hear about your van. Totally worth it to keep your family safe.

but my family has been picking up FE gifts for a while now waiting on the right time to cruise... So, we'll have a little something for the FE participants, if you have extra.. include us please. I haven't received docs yet to confirm cabin placement....(we'll see!)

I haven't finished shopping yet, so I can have a few things for you. How many in your party and how old are the kids?

[QUOTE poohfriend] I know I booked late....

I have extra gifts so we will put you on our list too......

Nachi Cocom is a cab ride away. It's not a Disney excursion. You can find lots of reviews in the FAQ thread under the excursion section.

Here's a link to where you can book the excursion independently. They limit it to 100 people/day (they say) so you have to check first for availability. You pay a small deposit in advance, and the rest in cash once you're there. If we can't dock for some reason, the deposit is refunded.

It's $49/adult, $29 for 12-17yrs, $12 for 4-11, and 3 and under are free. Disney would have charged us much more for Playa Mia, especially for our 3 and 5 yr olds.

I have enough too.

Thanks for the info. The food is a plus, for my 3 teenage boys, if they can graze - and I mean continuously, that's a plus for me.

Does anyone know if I have any chance of getting into the Palo Brunch, once we board the ship???

Never been interested in the specialty restaurants on the cruises, and not into Palo either, but the brunch I am...but of course its booked!

We haven't either, but we booked for this time....Key West day.

As far as how people have talked over the years, brunch books up first. However, if you go early, you may have a chance. Plans change, and I think they hold a few spots open for those who couldn't pre-book.

KCashner could probably answer best.

Pooh,

When you get your cabin #, please post what it is along with your childrens ages so we know where you'll be. I'm giving separate kids things, so I'd like to keep it age appropriate.

I'm never officially finished shopping, so I know I can include you. Since I know you are on Santa's nice list. :santa::santa:

Ages and genders of kids please.

Our cabins will be listed on the other web site

2 adults: Jonathan and Jennifer
3 kids: Kathleen age 11, Caroline age 8, and Nathaniel 6 (boy)

I bought a captain mickey from Macy's this week ($15) and have it in hiding until our announcement to the kids. I'm thinking about doing a scavenger hunt with Captain Mickey being the end present. This will be the kids Christmas present from us!

So excited about getting to know you all...and when i figure out how to order...I'm sure we want some of the DIS green wrist bands too!

I bought two of the Captain Mickey's yesterday at Macy's, and the kids discovered them that evening (not that I was trying to hide them, though I had considered it.) They especially liked the alarm clocks, and my son was up bright and early this morning when his alarm clock went off, so that's already a bonus!

I did have to label both the clocks and the plush since they're identical and I didn't want one to take the others, etc..

My son will be almost 6 on this cruise so your son will have plenty of boys his age to play with!

will be complete with just one Mickey..so the kids will have to share :) I'm thirlled nathaniel will have mates on the cruise. He's a little shy and our last cruise (on the Wonder) our middle child was in the same club as him. This year no such luck. He may spend less times in the club.

Love a Disney cruise. It allows us to spend time as a family, time as a couple, and individual time with each kids. Sometimes with 3 kids, it's difficult to fit all of that in during normal life. It's the kids clubs that make this possible!

I just noticed that the out of control August 16'11 Dream meet thread that I posted about earlier, that has now been active for just 11 days or so for a cruise that's 600 days away, is up over 1100 posts already, putting them just 100 posts behind this thread for a cruise that's just 21 days away! How crazy is that??

we have surprised our kids with trips to DL and DW before - it is so much fun to see the looks on their face. One time we woke them up at 5 am with the "Wishes" music - they all came running out of their rooms. Have a great time telling them. Are you going to pre-pack for everyone and then tell them right before leaving the house or give them a days notice?

I added your name and cabin to the list with your notation (Thanks to those who are willing to include us despite late entry!) because some people have finished shopping and have made their bags up already, I don't want o put a hardship on them by making them feel they have to go out shopping again if they have finished.

Anyone who is willing to extend and add another bag or gift to their list will be appreciated!
