December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

Funny...our local news had a similar story run last night. You don't live in PA, do you?

No, we live in southern West Virginia. I think the economy may be hurting the salvation Army and similar organizations in many places.

Is anyone doing a tour that includes the rum cake factory? I have my sister for Christmas and I told her if she didn't give me some ideas she would just be getting rum cake - well she thought that was a great idea. we are snorkeling in the cayman's but I would be more than willing to give someone the cash for the cake if they could pick it up for me!

We aren't doing a tour of the factory..we are doing stingray city and the turtle farm, but when we were there last January there were great run cakes available right at the port, or if you walk into town a short ways, there were lots of little stands of cakes..with tons of flavours!

We are doing our Stingray City and Cayman tour with Native Way, and their tour says it includes the rumcake factory. Tho it sounds like you'll have no trouble picking one up at port, let me know if you want one from the factory!

I am looking for a good snorkel excursion but can't convince my family to go on one. I love snorkeling and hvae a submersible camera. I may go without them.

Yikes! That's quite a day. I hope she is much much better very soon. :goodvibes

I had a very long day.. My best friend came up from Louisianna to spend a few days with me so dropped him off at the airport to go home :sad2: and then went right to the hospital. My grandmom was having surgery. She had fluid in her brain after a fall so they had to get it out and relieve the pressure. Was super scared. she's 91 and any surgery at this age is dangerous.. So just got home while my mom and uncle are still there i couldnt stay around anymore. Just waiting to hear from my mom on how my grandmom is doing. was there 4 hours and started feeling sick after the dr's came out to talk to us.

So thats pretty much been my day as of now.

Must be.
I try to drop whatever change or 1s I have when I can.

Ditto....I like snorkeling but DD doesn't. I'm going to book it on my own.

And that photo is just not fair--it could have been a photo of many things. I have coasters (from years ago) that look just like that pic, napkins, etc. located all over the ship!

I was going to guess a seat back or flag, but looking closely there appears to be a shoe print on it, so now I'm all confused!

Both Native Way and Captain Marvin's have multiple snorkel excursion options, and they both get good reviews on the message boards. We are going on the Native Way combo Stingray City and Island Tour. Our reservation says:

"The tour departs the pier at 10 AM Eastern Time and completes at around 2 PM Eastern Time. We ask that you check in no later than 9:45 AM Eastern Time. When you come ashore, look for the person carrying the sign that says Native Way Watersports. You may also ask for us at the information booth at the cruise ship terminal.

You will be driven by bus to popular locations on the island. You will also be taken to Stingray Sandbar by boat. On the boat, we provide free use of all snorkeling gear and vests, food for the Rays, and complimentary punch and bottled water. After the tour, you will be driven back to the cruise ship pier."

Sounds pretty easy. If anyone signs up for this one, we will have "reluctant snorkeler but very social" 7 yr old boy and just turned 4 girl along. :) I'm betting they will either stay on the boat and watch the stingrays from above, or at best swim along with Mom or Dad sans snorkel and mask.
