December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

I manage QA and Change Management. I will have a laptop with me but for photos. I've already started preparing my staff for the 2 weeks I'm out.

Technically I'm a stay at home mom now. I quit work last week. But I'm in the process of being wooed to do contract work- advising for the city I used to work for.

The real work I do, but don't get paid for- is volunteering for a million and one things. I am PTA president, lead 2 girlscout troops, on the board of directors at our Church preschool and run an outreach program at Church (ok that's just really fancy talk for I organize a monthly scrapbooking night at church. Pastor calls it an "outreach program" because most of the people who come don't go to our church-they just come for the free scrapbooking stuff!)

On our last trip to WDW my DH took his Blackberry. I spent most of the trip looking at the top of his head and three days into our full week at the parks, he was ready to pay extra airfare to come home so that he could get to work and solve all of the problems that were occuring during our trip. :sad2:

Needless to say, last year we went to Mexico - the Blackberry didn't work there and it was a great vacation. :thumbsup2

This year two of us will be going on vacation: DH & me or DH & the Blackberry. I plan to walk DH, the Blackberry and the laptop to our safe and deposit the last two items inside, lock it up tight and get in the car to go to the airport.
We purchased a tracphone for the trip but it will live in our hotel room - not with us at the parks. It's a vacation that we both desperately deserve and need more than ever!

On a side note, if you see a very tall blonde man walking around with a Blackberry wrapped in a green rubber bracelet - you will know I am at home in the safe with the laptop! :surfweb:

what will be funny is my sister, she is owner and ceo of her two companies, she has never been on vacation before, she is flipping out already, her GM is great but she is still flipping out and we have not even left yet.

Not taking a laptop here. All I would use it for is to play Toontown, and I'm not paying by the minute to play a game. I want to enjoy the cruise and don't expect to have enough time to play a game.

Anu other Toontown players here?

Neal

I'll be collecting material for my podcast while I'm on the cruise ... so who would like to participate in an interview?

Like my children needed another piece of clothing, I went to the fall sale. I have to say it has been a while since they would wear disney pants, but now they have some of the cutest denim jeans. The children actually loved them. They also had cars jackets on sale. I have bought all of the "tink gifts" for the cruise that I intend on buying. (another thread....tink gifts are gifts the stateroom host will put out for you) I decided to skip the baskets. This way they will get a little surprise every night with our turndown while we are at dinner. pirate: I am most excited about Pirates night....I got pirate chicken little and pirate mickey small animals and the pirate wash cloths and a candy sword. pirate: I did baskets for the resort. They have so many little things on sale. There is more on sale for the younger ones. They are also cheaper for the little ones. They had alot of 99 cent things for them. Also, I know most of you already know, but just in case, My travel agent had told them about us celebrating our anniversary and my husbands birthday and when I called about the rest of our excursions etc. they asked me if I would like a cake for dinner. I told them yes for my husbands birthday. So for all those birthdays out there, make sure they know what night. Also, we dont drink, but when we celebrate we drink muscadine(?) juice. It is in a wine bottle. What would be the best way to get it there? Should I ship to the resort and carry on the ship? It is delicious!!!!!!

Neal, what's Toontown? I'm not familiar with it, not outside of Mickey's Toontown that is?

You could have Shirley put a bottle or two in a basket of goodies for you. That way you wouldn't have to fuss with it and you would have a special surprise for your DH.

:sad2: I have depression today, payroll screwed up my check, so in between court and classes, i am supposed to call them to fix it, yeah right, where is the time.

Is no one willing to participate in an interview about your cruise experience and impression for my podcast? :sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

I would love to. But I'm not sure I have anything that others would want to hear... As long as you have ??'s I would be happy to supply answers! I think with our tribe of kids I can hit on just about every age group too!

I'm right there with you! :sad2:

I had a hell of a night last night-all 4 kids are sick and my finger still hurts. On top of that things fell apart at Back to School Night and I had to be in the middle of it. It amazes me how ego-centric people are. They always want to know what's in it for them...Trying to explain why we are spending the $90,000 PTA budget the way the board chose to do it was EXHAUSTING. Everyone wants to complain-but no one offers solutions or volunteers.
I wish everyone was as perfect as me! :teeth:

Don't under estimate yourself :thumbsup2

I'll have a list of questions and it will be fun! The podcast will not be premiering until early in the new year, but I'm taking advantage of the cruise to collect material.

SillyandI....I understand completely. I am over fundraising for our school and I choose not to have small irritating things but rather one or two big blowouts. Our children go to a private school. We have a very diverse group of families. We have very rich families to families that are there on scholarship. We have approx 125 families. No matter what is going on at school, we have about 15% participation. The other 85% choose not to participate and complain about how everything is going. They feel they dont need to be a part of their childrens schooling, just pay the tuition and go on. What is sad is the students notice whose parents are there and whose is not.

I hope your finger gets better and the whole family gets well soon!!!!

As far as the podcast....I have no clue what it is or what to do. I am willing to help anyone as long as I dont have to be on film. If it is a film thing...I have a ten year old drama queen(literally...She is in drama after school) that is always wanting to be on camera!!!!

A podcast is like a radio show, only downloaded from the web and put onto an mp3 device such as an iPod (hence podcast).

I would like to interview people, possibly before they board, to get their impression of what they are looking forward to, during the cruise to see what they've tried, what they like etc, and on the last day to get their over all experience of the cruise.

The podcast will appear early in 2007 and will be "broadcast" every other week. I have a co-host, who will not be on the cruise.

I'm quite serious about this and appreciate anyone's input and welcome anyone who would participate.

If anyone has kids that they think would be good "on the air" so to speak, I would like that as well.

This podcast is all about Disney and Disney vacations. I am also looking for people who might want to make regular, ongoing contributions and perhaps have their own segments.

No, to answer a question, this doesn't pay anything. It is coming out of my pocket. The podcast has does have a name, but I am keeping that under wraps for the moment.

Again, it would be really great if anyone on this thread could participate.

I would be happy in the future to do a segment on Special Education in schools, parents who have questions. etc..........

A segment on traveling with kids who have special needs, especially on a Disney vacation would be FANTASTIC! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

This podcast is intended for Disney fans to get the most out of their vacations and also to get information that they may not get on other podcasts.

It is intended to be helpful, entertaining, and let people get their Disney "fix" between trips.
