December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

I'm going to try Expedia and if that doesn't work call and book a room at Atlantis today for the 4 of us. Greg's parents won't do the water slides :goodvibes I'm glad that alot of us are going. The kids will have such a fun time!

Thanks,
Gailyn :cheer2:

Hey guys...just checking in. Would you believe it....2 weeks until we leave and the internet went down at the house (the whole area) and they have no idea when it'll be back up! So....until further notice...no evening chats for me. Talk about a major stress meltdown now!!!!!

Glad to hear everyone is figuring out their stuff for Nassau! I'm counting on people to just send me emails that I can get from work if there's something urgent I need to know. Home email is cjlkim@hotmail.com and I do try and check it periodically while at work. My work email is kgordonmontgomery@okuninsurance.com which is up all the time!

I will try if I have time to log onto AOL for IM sessions during the day...but can't guarantee it.

Cindy....how much snow did you get over your way? Here in Kalamazoo (work) they only have around 3 inches but in Lawton (home) I walked out to 6 inches on top of the Explorer!!! Winter has arrived!

Gailyn, sorry to hear about all things on your end. Prayers and strength hugs are headed your way!!

Gailyn, sweetie, so sorry for all you are going through. Sending you lots of pixie dust ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*and prayers.

I booked a room at Atlantis, maybe we should have a dismeet at one of the pools. :sunny:

Diane- we don't have a park hopper. We are using passes I got while working at Disneyland. Who knows, maybe they are worth more because they are about 15 years old!

Disneyfanatics R US- thanks for the info. I found it very helpful!

Gailyn- I'm dreadfully sorry to hear what you are going though. If any of us needs this vacation, it's you!

I'm a goober...what's MVMCP?? :teacher:

We are in cabin 6562. Somehow my DH was left off of the list of people going with us. Poor Jack! My son Kass (9) and my daughter Paris (8) can't wait to check out the new kids area in the free hours!

As for excursions, we are pretty much on our own the whole time.
On Key West we will probably visit Hemingways place. I'm bummed the sandal shop that I want to visit is closed on Sundays! booo!!
Cayman....we will probably soak up some rays :sunny: at 9 mile beach down where it's free and has clean restrooms and a roach coach parked in the parking lot. The stingrays swim next to you! Fun and a bit spooky!
Nassau, probably hit the pirate museum. pirate: Not sure what else. The thought of spending $185 for one day just to hang at a beach....when I come out of the water with sand in my bathing suit, I better have gold in there too! That's not going to happen, so Atlantis is off the list.
At Castaway Cay, the kids want to spend the whole time in the kids area. I was trying to talk them into going on the banana boat. That sounded like fun, even though I saw a lady fall off and totally eat it. Not a pretty picture.

We are staying in the Coronado Springs Resort, checking in on Monday night. We are going to a park, probably Epcot, on Tuesday. (no park hopper, boo hoo! I wanted to go to the Sci Fi cafe place and eat in a car!).

Do you think it's worth the money to go to Disney Quest :3dglasses at Downtown Disney? I will have Wed, Thurs and Fri with the kids and I figured that might be a fun thing to keep them occupied for a good chunk of one of those days. Is it appropriate for 8 and 9 year olds? Any other ideas how to occupy the kids for 3 days? Anything cheap or free in the area?

Off to get my green mickey heads! :moped:
Kitty

I am NOT going down those slides at the Atlantis. Not even in my younger and thinner days. I hate roller coasters too!!! But I did go down a kiddie slide it was made of concrete) at a resort in Puerto Vallarta. But I held my nose AND the water camera. Couldn't let Rick get a picture of that sight. :rotfl:

Reeves 06 - try to attend the DIS meet on the first day at 3:00 and bring the kids. It will either be at the Outlook Bar or Promenade Lounge - we'll let everyone know soon. The kids will meet some buddies and have friends for the whole cruise.

Kitty - can you tell us more about that beach in Cayman. Does it have chairs and umbrellas? Food and drinks?

I FINALLY made my door sign .... I tried last weekend and the package I use to make them (Print Artist) broke. I was just a tad bit upset - at myself for waiting until the last minute. But someone recommended PowerPoint and it is working great.

ATLANTIS DISers - Linda suggested a meet by one of the pools and I think it is a great idea. Does anyone know the Atlantis to suggest a time and place?

YippEE!

This is a better plan for us interested in pools, a shower and Adult Entertainment!

So Hannosmom, Hannosdad, chichihoney and GrayFal will be by the pool!

Diane they have a kiddie pool with small slide you could go down. Not all of the slides are straight down, I won't do that one either, but I am going down the one that winds thru the temple and you come out in the tube in the shark tank. There are 2 tubes one with the steep drop the other with a milder ride( I hope). The second you sit in a tube and go down. They also have a long lazy river to float around on. I think there is plenty for everyone to chose.

Hi Kris,

We just got a dusting of snow, it just blows off the truck. I'll send you a shovel for your 6 inches! Up near Flint they had ice last night, a work with a girl who lives up there and said her drive this morning was scary. I'm dreaming of sunshine.

When we went to 9 mile beach (or is it 10?), we passed all of the pricey hotels that charge you to stay on the beach. That's nutty! I don't remember if the area we went to has a name, but there really wasn't much, which is EXACTLY what we were looking for. We brought a soft sided cooler and stuck some food in it along with some bottles of water.
We pretty much had the beach to ourselves. There was a couple on one side that was pretty far away. The other side was a family, which was also far away. The stingray swam right around us! The water was beautiful! There was a restroom (not a port-a-potty either!) and a roach coach pulled up and served ice cream, drinks and snacks. We got a taxi there and told him to meet us at XX time and sure enough, he did! In fact, there were other taxis there as well, which made me sort of giggle, since there wasn't a ton of people there. I'm guessing that's where they go to unwind. I bet it's more of a local beach. There are benches there under a roof, so if the weather sadly turns foul, you have shelter. No chairs, no millions of people I had to fight for space in and out of the water, no foo-foo drinks, no cabana boys rubbing lotion on me....but what I did have...a bathroom, beautiful location, my family...really made up for it. Did I mention it was free? It was about $10 round trip for the taxi that I can remember. Nothing horrible. So grab a taxi and come hang out with us down the road. I'll see if there's an actual name for that section of the beach. I seem to recall there is.

Aloha,
Kitty

Hi Diane,

I guess I should give you my excursions.

Key West - the trolley tour on our own. Then we are going to go to Southernmost Point, the Hemingway House and the Butterfly Farm.

Grand Cayman - Island Tour and Stingray City

Nassau - Atlantis Resort

Castaway Cay - Beach

We are with disneyfanaticsrus and our DS 18 is looking forward to meeting new kids to hang out with along with his friend. Glad to hear you're on board! We're on the final countdown. We are getting together Sat night to make some more plans on what to do. My son and I are SERIOUSLY considering the parasailing and looking forward to snorkling. My husband, not the adventurous type in water may watch from the shore.

WHAT ARE GREEN DISNEY EARS? or whatever all should have in order to identify ourselves.

Kitty- we too were thinking a quiet beach that day would be great. If you can get the name of that area we would love it. We thought we would try the taxi's to get there so you actually make me feel better that there were taxi's around. DH was a little concerned that we would get there and not get back to the ship. We've got a cooler ready to pack and like the idea of a local beach. Let us know if you figure it out.

Thank you for all the kind words and prayers. My gandma just passed away this morning. She is finally at peace. It's been a long couple of months. We're going to be leaving on Saturday to go to Cincinnati. I'm such a mess. I can't believe that our trip is only a week and a half away.

Before we leave for Cincinnati, I'm going to try to sit down with DD8 and DS6 to write some emails. They're asking every day to do it, and who they're going to meet. They really enjoyed this part last year. They really didn't know their great grandma and no one else in the family has passed away so they're kind of clueless to the other stuff going on.

Well, all for now. Thanks again for the prayers and pixie dust.

Gailyn :)

Gailyn, so sorry to hear of your loss - Grandmas are Sooo special - a big :grouphug: to your whole family.

Diane :fish:

How about a quick "Howdy Do" at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge, then we can meet at the sail-away on Deck 10 at the Outlook Bar area.

Pat and Linda, thank you for your warm thoughts. I appreciate it.

Linda, I think that sounds fine, 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge then we'll see each other again at the sail away. Is there room for the kids to congregate where we can see them? I don't think I ever visited the Promenade Lounge on our last cruise. Is it on deck 3 (or whatever the main desk deck is)??

It's in the 30's today, windy and cold. I'm so ready for warm weather!!
