Dues have no connection to UY at all. Dues are assessed based on the estimated cost of operating and maintaining the resort for the coming calendar year. That’s why when someone buys direct from DVC, they pay dues prorated from the date that they buy for the remaining part of that calendar year. The amount of dues they pay has no relationship to the UY of the points that they have just bought. So in theory you could be paying for dues on your 2024 points at the beginning of the year 2024 (or in monthly installments if EFT) before you even use them in 2025? Yikes, I just made an offer on a December UY contract. I currently have an April UY and never really thought about UY before.
I know that payment for dues for a given calendar year is a matter of negotiation when purchasing a resale contract, but in reality, the dues are not related to the UY of the points being purchased. If I were buying a condominium apartment in one of the many high-rises in Florida, I would not expect to pay the operating expenses and maintenance expenses that occurred before I purchased that apartment.
