Although we do the 7 day ones we still stop at Castaway Cay which is in the Bahamas. The weather has always been lovely for us. In the 80's which down there feels a great deal warmer than the 80's here in New England does (sun is stronger I guess) the water has never been too cold for us-but then again we swim at Cape Cod all summer where the max. water temp is MAYBE 68-72 degrees if we are lucky!
We cruised Dec 8, 2002, and it was very windy and the water was both rough and chilly at Castaway Cay. We didn't spend too much time there. I think it is hit or miss when you go as to what weather you are going to get at that time of year - that's why there are the discounts for travelling in pre-Xmas December.
Bronco Joe - we were on the cruise right before you! We sailed December 1-8 and Castaway Cay was wonderful! 80s and sunny! I guess it just hit-or-miss, just like here.
This year, we're sailing on the 4-day on November 30 and hoping for weather just as nice as last time!
12/26 Wonder - Local Bahamians and CMs onboard from warm climates kept mentioning how cool it was but it sure felt good to us. Beautiful breeze, cool nights and perfect days. I'm guessing it was mid 70's.
