Dec cruise

We are considering a land/sea package first week of Dec. What could we expect for weather at that time? Any comments?

Also, is it cheaper to book the cruise and resort separetly? We want to stay at the Poly; but a Cat 11-12 stateroom is fine for cruise. We are on a budget and are thinking of splurging for a deluxe resort but probably not for the stateroom.

I'm a bit nervous to book a package also since it appears I'll have no control over our flights. We want a nonstop with children.

We did land and sea 12/1-12/8/02. We also booked 2 extra pre-land and sea days at WDW when the cheap rates came out. We stayed at POR with a Cat. 11 stateroom. We booked the package which worked out fine-transfers were taken care of, luggage was taken to the ship from your hotel, check in at the resort was also for the cruise, etc. I didn't book plane tickets through DCL because we like to take the 6AM flight so that we make it to WDW around 11:00. The weather in WDW was cold! It was 60's during the day and into the 40's at night. By the last 2 days of our "land" trip it was near 80. Nassau was 80 and Castaway Cay started out overcast and sprinkling but then warmed up to around 75-80. So the weather on the cruise was great! But there were alot of people at POR filling their cups up with hot chocolate at night!
