Dec. 7, 2008 4 nite Mousefest Cruise - who's all going?

I checked fares on AirTran this evening. Last night they were $86 each way, and tonight they are back up to $151 each way! I'm sure glad I bought my ticket last night. :)

Isn't getting a great deal the best feeling? I just checked the costs for our 4/24 and 4/28 flights and the one down is now $214 and the one back is $175. They fluctuate prices so much, even during the day. I work from home so I'm lucky I can check often for deals.

This will be our first Disney cruise and we are sooooo excited. My DD11 and DS 8 would love to be in contact with some of the others on the cruise. Time can not go quick enough

This will be my first cruise as well, and I feel the same way. 8 Months is too long to wait....

Hi everyone

for those who are still looking for tickets.

One site I check is Kayak.com, they are pretty good and you can have them send you alerts when tickets prices go down.

Hi everyone!! We are going on the Dec 7th 4 night cruise on the Wonder!! :cool1: THEN we are staying a week in Disney at the Saratoga Springs Resort AFTER our cruise!:yay: We are SOOO excited!! This is our FIRST cruise!! It will be just MEprincess: 31 and my DHpirate: 44 :goodvibes

Is there any other couples going on the cruise the same time?? We are a little hesitant about the "seating" in the dining areas. We prefer to dine alone:confused3 A group a 10 at one table kinda scares me:eek:

I'm not totally anti-social...lol....I just like to have a "private" and "romantic" atmosphere:)

Anyone else feel the same way???

Anyhoo.......just wanted to introduce ourselves!! After becoming DVC members last Sept and spending a week in WDW, we have become ADDICTED to everything DISNEY!!! :lovestruc :mickeyjum

Hi Taylor,

We were on the MouseFest cruise this last year and had a great time. Most of the events for MouseFest were free, but some did cost money. The ones we did were a tour of the Walt Disney Suite, door decoration contest, tree lighting ceremony, and my husband also did a Nassau City tour with Dave from Passporter books and other Mousefesters. These were all free, but I did have to sign up for the door decoration contest and Suite Tour ahead of time. They also had other activities that I didn't get a chance to do, but hope to this next time. As it gets closer to sailing, you can sign up on the MouseFest website. I think we signed up for the suite tour 2 months or so aheaad of time.

I also want to do a gift exchange. We also did this on our last cruise and we had so much fun. We did the gift exchanges on Mon. Tues and Wed. and had stockings on our doors or you could have fish extenders instead. There were 3 different groups of about 5 or 6 each, so we only had to buy gifts for 3 nights for just the group we were in. We exchanged items such as postcards from where we live, treats, toys, and pirate items for the children in our group, Christmas decorations/ornaments, snacks, handmade items, etc.....Are others interested in a gift exchange too? I know we did discuss it a little before. Does ayone have any other ideas on how to do the gift exchange or do you like the format we did?

7 1/2 more months for this cruise. I can't wait!:goodvibes

Vicki

Wow!! You cant get much better than Disney and Christmas:santa: :yay: :cool1:
We definitely would be interested in doing this. I also want to ask a newbie question what is a fish extender? My kids are so excited to decorate our door. So count us in. I feel like it is Christmas in July when I start to think how quick it will be here:cheer2: :cheer2:
bye the way the kids love talking to other children that are going
Thanks.

I have never done a gift exchange before, but I would be willing to organize it, unless someone with experience wants to do it.

Hi Lisa,

Sure if you'd like to organize it that would be great! I'd be more than happy to help you in any way if you'd like - just let me know. I have never organized it before either, but did play it this past Dec. and it was a lot of fun!

I love how the ship is decorated this time of the year for Christmas. I actually didn't know what a fish extender was until a few months ago myself:confused3. :) There is like a metal fish next to your door that is up at about head level. Many times Disney will put mail in these fish holders. Some people have made what are called fish extenders that hang from these fish. They make them with pockets for mail, gifts, etc... Maybe someone will be able to post a picture for you, so that it will be easier to understand, than trying to understand my description of the extender  I know there are some threads on it on our boards that might be helpful. I hope that helps some. :)

You can decorate your door for fun or if you want to get in on the contest, sometime in the fall they have sign ups with the rules, etc for the door decoration contest. They have prizes for the top winners. We entered the contest knowing we probably wouldn't win , but it was just a lot of fun decorating it and getting into the spirit of things. I had just as much fun as the kids decorating our door.:cool1

My daughter Adriane is also enjoying talking to other kids who will be on this cruise too.

Hello! My name is Jodi and my DP (Disney Partner) DD(5) and DG (Disney Granny) will be cruising on the 4 night Wonder. This is our first cruise and we are very excited!:woohoo:

We are looking forward to getting to know you all on the boards and :worship: asking for your advice.

We are doing 3 days at Animal Kingdom and the 4 days on the Wonder. We are going to do a dolphin experience and the ray feeding. Have any of you done those before?

I noticed that others were saying that their children were talking to others about the trip. Do any of you have 5/6/7 princess: year olds that will be going? I would love for Emily to share pics or stories so she is comfortable going to the Oceaneers Club.

We also would be interested in the gift exchange!

Thank you so much!
Jodi

Hi Jodi and welcome:welcome:

My daughter Adriane has started a post/thread for kids cruisers for this cruise. I think it is called " Calling all kids cruisers for MouseFest cruise or Dec 7 cruise. " or something like that:) There are a few of them chatting on there. I do have son and daughter your daughters age though. (They aren't on my daughters thread since they really don't know how to write very well yet :) My daughter Stephanie will be 4 3/4 on this cruise and my son will have just turned 6 in September. I am sure they would be interested in getting to know your daughter. My son Zach enjoys going to the club, but Stephanie was a little shy about it this last year since she really didn't know anyone. That would be nice if she met someone ahead of time. If you want to PM me, I will give you our e-mail address, so that the kids can share stories, etc I will just help them write to your daughter . :)

A dolphin experience and ray feeding sounds like fun. My husband and older daughter did the dolphin encounter a couple years ago at Nassau and really liked it. Is that where you are planning on doing it at?

Vicki

We will be there...We are from Omaha, NE and this is our first cruise! It will be my DP (Disney Partner), DD-6 and DG (Disney Granny).

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Jodi

So I had some time to read about gift exchanges, and there appears to be many different ways to do them, but the main differences appear to me as:

1) Give a gift to every person who wants to participates any time during the cruise.

2) Split the participants into sub groups and then give out gifts to those rooms on different days.

What I suggest is I will get a list of people who are interested in particpating and then about 3 months prior we take a vote on how people want to do it. I would think it would be easier to make a decision based on the number of people involved.

I guess the con to giving to every person is if you have a large amount of participants then you may end up spending a fair amount of time delivering to all the rooms that may be all on different floors, and I am sure a 4 day cruise will be very busy.

Is everyone is ok with this? If not please let us know as I have never done a gift exchange before.

If you are interested let me know and I will start a list.
