Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Baby, it's cold out there .... 30 farenheight (sp?)
Wow, that is cold! We've been in the 70s here!

Had nigtmare last night that I missed the plane to Orlando- twice! :rotfl2: Okay I truly think that I have it all under control here.

I've had a similar dream twice! Hope they don't come true!

We're leaving tomorrow morning to drive to Dallas and are flying out Tuesday morning. By 1PM Eastern on Tuesday I should be waiting for the ME bus!:banana::banana:

See you all soon!!!!

All Christmas decor went up about 2 weeks ago! Been tanning, cleaned the house today, wrapped some presents, suitcase out, trying to get a bit ahead at work. I'll try to pull out some clothes tonight. No dreams yet, last time I flew we had to make an emergency landing and I got to use the evacuation slides, don't want to repeat that ever again. Not a big fan of flying but that won't stop me!! Leave Wednesday morning! Can't wait!! :santa:

33 and light rain here. Of course. That's because we are planning on going to cut down our Christmas tree later this morning. We haven't had rain in ages but NOW it rains. :sad2:
On Friday, I was in Northern Ontario doing an inspection. It was snowing!:scared1: Can't wait to be heading south on Thursday's flight.

Just had a new security system installed at the house on Wednesday (about time!)to cover while we're away. It's one of those voice activated ones and the neighbours, who are very good sentinels and work from home, will be on guard as well :) (They even did Tortola sailing last winter and loved it!) I think we're all covered around here.

I just wanted to be the one to make the 2,000th post to our thread!:yay:

I was good today. I took the $25 cut your own Scotch pine tree instead of the $95 precut balsam fir that was gorgeous. I know I spent $25, but I feel like I saved $70!

That's a great deal on the tree! :cool1:

strange request for anyone willing to help out a fellow disser.

You have a pm. I'd be happy to help, but only at cost without a markup.

Merry Christmas!

I am trying to pack 2 suitcases for the cruise and 2 for our pre-trip stay at WDW. I was hoping to just 'store' the cruise luggage and not have to open it at all. However, I am wondering if that will be a disaster for all of our hanging clothes. We have them in a rolling hanging bag that folds in half. Does anyone know if we can leave it that way for 5 days? Or do we need to unpack and repack it?

My goal is to finish packing tonight except for carryons. That will leave last minute carryon packing tomorrow night for our early flight Tuesday morning.

We got each child a disposal camera today for their use on the trip. We also snuck a couple of new books into their carryons for the plane ride. I am mostly packed, but I have to go finish now....

Happy travels to everyone!

Found this (on another forum) for those of you doing the baths on your own... hope it helps

OK From start to finish:

From the ship you should be able to actually see the ferry dock. It's about a 10-15 minute walk BUT allow at least 20 minutes.

Facing the shore, the ferry dock is your left. There should be a tourism booth at the dock, is there is just ask them to point you in the right direction.

When you get to the ferry dock, you may be able to buy a ticket with an add-on for the taxi to the Baths - if you can do this - it will save you a buck or two. I do NOT recommend buying the package that includes lunch because you don't have a lot of time.
BE VERY SURE TO KEEP your ticket in a safe place, you need it for the return. If they give you a separate taxi slip, also keep it - since they usually don't collect them until the RETURN taxi.

MAKE VERY SURE that you understand the return ferry schedule.

The ferry ride will take approx 30-40 minutes. There are washrooms on the ferry. Bring lots of water for Virgin Gorda.

Once the ferry docks at VG, you will see open-air jitney style bus-taxis. These are
the "taxis" that you take to The Baths - just buy a ticket OR show the driver your taxi-ticket (if you bought it from the ferry people) and board - remember DON"T give it to the driver - you need it for your return "taxi" ride. Once your "taxi" is full (it won't take long), the driver will leave for The Baths. The ride is short - about 5 minutes.

You will be dropped at The Top of The Baths parking lot where you will see a restaurant and shops. There will be signs indicating where the trail down to The Baths starts. I have not been there since the admission fee to The Baths was imposed (but I am glad they did this - it's not a lot and it helps to keep the place up) - so I don't know where you pay that.

The trail goes downhill and is not difficult but I strongly suggest wearing decent footwear (like sneakers or sports sandals). Do not wear slippy flat soled sandals - since there are one or two spots that can be a little slidely.

At the bottom of the trail (takes about 15 minutes), there will be a beach bar and restaurant with lockers to your right (facing the ocean) and the entrance to The actual rock formation of The Baths will be to your left (very obvious). There is a nice small beach here. If you have water socks change into them before you go into The Baths.

The trail THROUGH the Baths (not rushing) takes about 20 minutes but allow at least 30-45 minutes to appreciate the Baths.

Once you make it through the Baths there will be more large rocks and then another beach (Devil's Bay) - larger than the first one - good snorkeling but it can be rough.

To get back to The Top of The Baths you have TWO choices because there are TWO trails that lead back up to the parking lot from Devil's Bay.
1. you can go back the way you came (back through The Baths and then up the hill). This is the best choice for the directionally challenged.
2. there is a trail that leads back to the parking lot directly from Devil's Bay. It is easier than going back through The Baths BUT it is a little longer and not well marked. It will take you to the other side of the parking lot.
My recommendation - IF you did not find the Baths hard to get through and you are directionally challenged - go back the way you came. If you found the Baths a little challenging, take the alternate route. In either case allow PLENTY of time to get back to the parking lot - at least 30 minutes.

The jitney-taxis will leave about 10-15 minutes before the ferry departure time. Just show the driver your taxi ticket. As long as you are back at the VG ferry docks a few minutes before departure time, you will be OK. The ferries are often a little late leaving but DON"T COUNT ON THAT.

E.G. 1PM ferry departure time - make sure you are in the Top of The Baths parking lot NO LATER than 12:45.

Good Luck - we have done this a number of times and it really is not hard - just be aware of times.

What's packing? I need to get started on that today as DH is out of town all week and I've got to run the Holiday Shoppe at my son's school all week. We had planned to put up the tree yesterday but it didn't happen. DH is headed into work this afternoon for a few hours so I doubt that will happen today either. We might be putting it up when we get back. We leave Friday afternoon but I would love to be ready way before then. Need to finish my FE's too! Busy, busy week!!

Running the holiday Shoppe THE WEEK BEFORE your cruise? :cool1::woohoo:

You go girl!

We are planning to send out our dress clothes & my capri pants to be ironed. It was 1/2 price of the dry cleaning. I can't remember the price though. It WAS my sanity saver. I will be doing it again. I will unpack once we get to our cabin (provided our luggage is there) and send everything out before the muster drill.

We also got the kids disposable cameras. Our camera is MIA:eek:

Yep - most of our PTA board doesn't agree with the shop at all and it's something that the Principal had asked for when he first came to our school two years ago. I did last year's by myself with some help from the office staff and teacher assistants. This year, the fifth graders have helped and a couple of parents who love it. It's going great - we close Thursday at lunch time. I'd rather be busy, then wishing the days would go by until we leave for Disney!

Anyone else having nightmares they forgot something?

I usually am ready to go a month before vacation but this trip I really just don't want to pack, same thing happened to me in July, I usually have a giant journal with all of the info I need and phone numbers etc.... even print out my personal itenerary but this time, nothing:guilty: I just wonder why I am just not into this vacation... I think it might be because I am miserable, don't really want to carry my donut around the ship :scared:

Not of forgetting something, but that any one person may not be healthy enough! DS8 was wailing last night with an earache. DM gave him tylenol and let him sleep in our bed with me, while she slept with DD6. (Later DS2.75 joined the gals at 4AM).
During the night, DS8 would moan a bit, getting me more and more worried about plane pressure affecting him. Thank God he was fine this AM!:cool1:

So glad he is feeling better this morning.

I have been on my boys about making sure they wash their hands constantly last week and they have been really good about doing too, it might of helped that I told them that if they were to get sick they wouldn't be able to get on the ship:scared1:

Packing, what's packing?? I'm still working on FE gift - almost done! Still need to put together bags. Just got the e-mail my FE is ready so going to pick it up tomorrow. I'm starting to make piles of stuff. I need to make a packing list!

Trying to catch up on bills, school (yes homeschooling goes on - plus make-up piano lesson for the one we'll miss next week).

Need to finally print nametags! I keep updating, but haven't printed.

IF YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THE ROLL CALL AND YOU HAVEN'T PM'D ME, I'M HAPPY TO MAKE YOU A TAG BUT I NEED YOUR NAME AND THE 1ST NAMES OF THOSE WITH YOU TO DO IT!!

Safe travels everyone!

Insulin? Your mom is diabetic I assume. I gathered from your previous post that your mom is not the smallest person in the world. Overweight people, especially more senior, tend to be diabetics.
