Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Before I had the boys I read John Grisham faithfully......... just started reading again this summer and found Mark Gimenez I plan to take his 2 newest with me :surfweb: (pretend the computer is a book)
:rotfl2: It is crazy that we absolutely can not be caught reading at work but it's OK to surf the web.... (well unless it's story time then I have to read)

Are you a librarian???!!! I was in New Hampshire (loved, loved , loved that job) and we could not read (but could surf if working the desk with no patrons) also. Often in the evenings two of us would be there (there always have to be two for safety) with all the shelving and bullitan boards and whatnot done and not a patron in the place and it would drive us bonkers that we were not supposed to read. A big part of my job was to keep up on adolescent literature, but I was not allowed to read any of it on the clock:rolleyes:

I just got an email from the guy at Mountain Top. They added a video to that link yesterday! He says he expects it opening in around a year. :( So it won't be ready on the mountain when we get there.

Thanks for checking further into it. Too bad they won't be open for us.

We just got back late last night from a quick 3 night/4 day trip to WDW. We did MNSSHP on Halloween and had a great time. The parade was awesome and lots of great costumes. Perfect weather all 4 days. It was nice to be in shorts and t-shirts again. We stayed at Kidani for 2 nights and Bay Lake Towers (for the 1st time) the last night. We did a haunted hayride on Friday night at Ft. Wilderness and the headless horseman came out at us at the end. I highly recommend it. We had great meals at Chef Mickey's, the Crystal Palace and Whispering Canyon Cafe. We were able to see the fireworks on the 16th floor overlook at BLT on Sunday night. It was a wonderful view of MK!

We can't wait to go back next month!

All of that sounds absolutely fantastic:thumbsup2

I think I spoke too soon about the mamogram. I just got a call back because they found something. If it is malignant it's still to small to feel anything so that must be good. I have to go back in on Thursday. I don't know what this will do to the December plans. I'm just taking everything hour by hour now.

I will say a prayer for you. Don't worry about the cruise right now, your health comes first. Stay as positive as you can. I know that's easier said than done, but with all that we went through with Keegan's chest tumor last year, it can be very draining and emotional. As you said, if it does turn out to be malignant, it's been caught very early which is good. Please know we are thinking and praying for a great outcome for you.

:hug:OH, I know this is muc heasier said than done but try not to worry too much. The vast majority of the time the "something" that a mammogram picks up is nothing to worry about--you just have to make sure. I have twice had "something" big enough to feel. I ended up having ultrasounds and even a biopsy guided by ultrasound the first time (the second time the mystery something was in the exact same spot so they gave it a few weeks and cehcekd again and it was getting smaller and in 3 months it was gone). I was a nervous wreck the first time around with all the what ifs. All that stress was for naught in the end. In the highly unlikely event taht it IS somethign to worry about--with it being so small you should be fine in the long run anyway (DMiL and her sister have both been through that and had outpatient procedures and have been cancer free ever since--breast cancer runs in that side of the family).
I'll be sending lots of positive thougths your way:hug::goodvibes

I just pulled this from the American Family Physicians website to maybe help calm your fears:
Proper evaluation of an abnormal mammogram result is important because approximately 90 percent of women with abnormal results do not have breast cancer.

And from Breatcancer.org (I promise I will stop now:flower3:):

An unusual result requiring further testing does not always mean you have breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about 10% of women (1 in 10) who have a mammogram will require more tests. Only 8-10% of these women will need a biopsy, and about 80% of these biopsies will turn out not to be cancer. It’s normal to worry if you get called back for more testing, but try not to assume the worst until you have more information.

After marrying into a family where breast cancer has hit a few members (thanking God that it hasn't been Christine) I feel your pain. SIL is still in recovery after several bouts of radiation/chemo but she is now CANCER FREE! She's just gathering her strength again and already working part-weeks.

I hope your tests will be negative, and I'm assuming they will be as they did not call you in on the first day. To me, that's a positive.

All will be well and we're still looking forward to meeting you on the cruise in 4 1/2 weeks!

Please don't let negative thoughts get the best of you. I went through this twice and had biopsies twice. both times, not cancer. so just pray
and we will pray too.

HI everybody. I am green with envy reading about everyone's Halloween fun (even if you did not have as many ToTers are normal). Legoland's festivities were not really very Halloween like. We so miss seeing all the cute costumes--and we don't eat a lot of the candy but we did miss having a couple of mini American style candies that night too. It is really the first time we have been very homesick. BUT we have a cruise comming up so all should be okay:thumbsup2

so here is a new Question of the week

Lots of people like to bring along a good book (or five;)) on vacation. What have you read recently that you would recommend as a good vacation read???

Me--well I am reading Robin McKinnley's Sunshine right now. I am not big on vampire novels, but of the ones I have read it is by far the best. It is not soemthing I am ever likely to pick up again, but it is a fun one time read. I also recetnly reread (for about the gazillionth time:lmao:) The Princess Bride which is a perfect fluffy and fun vacation novel.

Dave--thinks the only things you should read on DCL are the Navigator and the menu:rotfl2:

Marika--She is not good at narrowing things down when it comes to books:lmao: She says anything by Robin McKinnley, anything by Robert Heinlein, any Sherlock Holmes books, or perhaps the new (she has not read it yet) Septimus Heap book (I cut her off and left teh room at that point--she was still going on. . .)

Rio--The Kingdom Keepers books (DIsney After Dark and Disney at Dawn

I am not sure what to bring to read. I have seen the Princess Bride movie a hundred times, but never read the book. If the book is so good, maybe that would be a fun one to bring to read. Thanks for the tip!

Oh it is fun. The book was written (by the person who wrote the screen play) after the movie was made but both are equally good--it is a laugh out loud book:lmao:

 So sorry to hear this. Sending hugs an prayers your way.

Amy: I read a lot, so it's hard to pick a recent favorite. I plan to bring either Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet or Sarah's Key (or both).
Gary: Thunder Below, by Eugene Fluckey.
Julia (9): The Amazing Benedict Society series, or Peter and the Star Catchers (about Peter Pan), or A Girl Named Disaster, or anything by Roald Dahl or Nick Sullivan. She obviously got my "loves to read" gene....
Olivia (4): Monster Parade

Hang in there. Like everyone else is saying, chances are that there is nothing wrong. I had to go back once for an ultrasound to check out something that didn't look right on a mammogram. It scared me to death! I read all the statistics, too. I KNEW that chances were heavily in my favor but I still worried. And yes, I was fine in the end. Hopefully you will be, too. :cheer2:

Hadley - thank you for the statistics. It has helped my see the situation is a much more hopeful light.

To all the rest of you- (Hanover - Tower - beachbrat - deebits - hurley03 - Carmine3377 - and Inkmahm) your prayers and good wishes have comforted and warmed me. I hadn't (although I should have) realized so many others have been touched by this cancer. Thank your for sharing. It's helped me put things in perspective.

I can't wait to meet all of you on the ship! I don't care what it takes. I'll be there.

Hugs - Christine
