Dec 2011 Car Rental Rates

If you select a mid size, you will get a full size. If you select a compact, your reservation will show a standard, but they do not have standard at MCO, so you get a full. I book a compact and get a full.

What am I doing wrong? I used my Emerald Club ID and the Entertainment code ND8578ADT and my full size SUV was over $700. We are going from Dec. 16-23.:confused3

Have you tried checking your dates with Alamo? They seem to have the best prices right now with the codes posted in this thread.

Looks like alamo rates are up today. I already have a midsize for Dec. 14-22 for $112 total. Today a midsize is around $250! :scared1:

However, it seems they replaced the midsize special with an suv special. Midsize suv for my dates was $209 total (costco code and $35 coupon). If you want an suv, now may be the day to reserve one.

Pricing a rental nowadays is like walking in a Halloween corn maze, isn't it? :tiptoe:

Rates seem to be up everywhere.... Glad I locked in at $126..... Same rental would be $250 now!

The base rate on mine went down, BUT it's no longer taking off the Costco discount, just the $35 coupon. So glad I am already booked with a great rate!

Down again this morning! $204 for a mid-size SUV from national Dec 10-19th :cool1: Still using the entertainment contract and the national $35 coupon.

Full size SUV is $276, full car on aisle still stuck and is the most expensive of the three options.

Alamo 12/9-17 MCO
Mid-size with Costco 7015309 (free additional driver) and insiders coupon AD2724FZA (-$35) = $114 with taxes

I really need a good code for a premuim car. I have a full size with Alamo reserved for $174 inclusive for 10 days but I think we would be a lot more comfortable in a bigger car since there are 5 of us. I am also worried about the luggage fitting into an Impala.

Anyone have good premuim codes? The cheapest I can get right now is $250 inclusive.

Family of 5 also...but sorry, No codes here...but, IMO...the Impala trunk is huge. (We rented one last year through Enterprise)

I wish I could find a full size for that price for our 13-24th trip this year!

Keep in mind that the full and premium cars are the same size, trunk included. The premium will just have a few additional appointments that a higher rate can be charged for. And when they say 4 pieces of luggage on both, or 5 on the luxury, I think that is quite conservative. It would have to be 4 or 5 pieces of the largest size possible. JMO.

Alamo way up today. National holding steady with the midsize SUV and Full SUV. Full size car for the Exec aisle has popped up a bit. Sure hope prices aren't trending up again, while I've whittled down a quite a bit its still more than I've ever paid for a rental :scared1:

I usually book National but I found a $40 off coupon for my 10 day rental with Alamo mid-size. If I pick up at MCO and return to Dolphin using the
AD8Z21SDB and 7015309 it comes to $138.10 for a midsize for 10 days.
My current National rental for 10 days picking up and returning to CCC is $299.00. I am going to keep checking. My dates are 12/2 to 12/12/2011.
This coupon is for a 10 day or greater rental with Alamo.

AD8Z21SDB seems to require at least a 10 day rental in order to be able to use it

Caught my National Midsize SUV on a down blip using the entertainment code and ND8578ADT for a total of $200.28 from the 10th-19th! :cool1: Just shy of my "under $200" goal....then it promptly blipped up again to $225.....so, keep working them gang, as you never know if the price is about to change. Hopefully tomorrow it will be even a bit lower....

BTW, the full size SUV did not move down, but did go up. I've plain given up on the full size for the aisle as they have been running about $100 more for the gamble over the guarenteed.

For those curious about Alamo, I've been monitoring them as well, but they have be WAAAAAY more expensive for the same dates.

I still can't believe some of the rental prices I'm seeing. We always fly into Sanford and I know that makes a difference, but give me a break.. $350 for a compact or a week? I know it must be the time we are going (Dec. 17 - 21 and my brother is going Dec. 17 - 24) but gee give me a break. I started looking for a car in August and $149 is the best I can find for our week.. Most of the specials cut off Dec. 15. Even with the high rental prices it still is a better deal for us to fly into Sanford and not MCO.

We are heading down from Dec 24- Jan 2 and the rental rates are around $900.
Please tell me they are going to come down in price.

What kind of vehicle are you looking for?

We have a rental booked for December 31st to January 7th through National for $185 plus taxes and fees ($250 total). Its using the AMEX code 5125601. I just ran your dates using the same code and get the following prices:

Economy $248, compact $290, intermediate $308, standard $344, full size $344 (all plus taxes and fees). Larger vehicles are very pricey under this code. But if you're looking for a car, and have an American Express card, you can definitely get a cheaper rate than $900.

I am trying to decide if I should buy an entertainment book.......does anyone think I may do better than my current $185 rate with their offers? I just don't think I would use the book for much else :confused3 . Our hotel, airfare, attractions tix, etc. are all ordered and paid for. I would hate to pay $35 plus shipping to not end up using it.
