Dec 2011 Car Rental Rates

Tried the AMEX codes for my dates and got a total price of $576.89. And that is with a $156 discount. Ouch.

I usually book National but I found a $40 off coupon for my 10 day rental with Alamo mid-size. If I pick up at MCO and return to Dolphin using the
AD8Z21SDB and 7015309 it comes to $138.10 for a midsize for 10 days.
My current National rental for 10 days picking up and returning to CCC is $299.00. I am going to keep checking. My dates are 12/2 to 12/12/2011.
This coupon is for a 10 day or greater rental with Alamo.

when I used this it said it was a BJs coupon ... do you know if you have to be a member to use the coupon? It let me put it with the costco id and still accepted the coupon, but wasn't sure if we had to be BJ members. Thanks.

We are heading down from Dec 24- Jan 2 and the rental rates are around $900.
Please tell me they are going to come down in price.

Welcome to the DIS!

Budget has an Intermediate SUV for $325 plus taxes and fees for 12/24 - 1/2 for a total of $432 using BCD "Y937800" and the $25 off coupon "MUWZ023". A Compact goes for $396 with all fees using the same codes. Both codes were mentioned earlier in the thread. I would look through the thread and write down all the codes mentioned and run them for yourself and see what gives you the best price. Christmas WILL be expensive and NO the prices WILL NOT come down in price. Get your car now.

Goodness...I just decided to play around with it and here's what I booked-
Using the Costco ID 7015309 and the coupon AD239FDF.
Pick up @ MCO 12/9 at 9:30pm, Drop off @ MCO 12/18 1:30pm
$114 a week
$16.36 a day for 2 extra days
20% off with Costco ID (-$22.09)
Coupon (-$35)
Subtotal $90.18
Total with taxes/fees $145.60:banana:

Using these same codes/days/times-
Just got a mid-size SUV for $184. Holding onto my other reservation (same codes)for a compact at $107. Not sure which one i'll use at this point. I drive a mid-size SUV at home and would prefer the same thing on vacation.

Glad rates came down for your dates. I arrive on 12/14 and my rates are still at about $240 for compact. Thankfully, I booked a midsize a couple weeks ago when they were crazy cheap. So I have a midsize for 8 days for $112.

I got a 36 day rental for $729.00 i used the 40 coupon and the 15% costco code.
I live in australia so I will probably arrive and end up with a massive extra but oh well. for that price if I have prepaid most of it its all good! :cool1:

:)

Has anyone named their own price on priceline and got a good deal??

Yes, but not for Christmas. I usually start bidding at 40% of the Hotwire price. Since you're from out of the country, I world make sure that you understand your insurance needs and the rules for bidding on Priceline. What are your dates? Are you picking up and dropping off at the same location? You might do better if you break up your reservations into smaller chunks.

National down again! Midsize SUV at $186/ full size SUV for $251 from the 10th - 19th with entertainment book ID and ND8578ADT for $35 off. Finally, under $200!! :cool1:

Full size on the aisle is at $321, for information sake.

I am happy with the price i have i am picking up and dropping off at MCO everywhere else is more expensive to pick up and drop off.

I know that a lot of the focus is on the holiday period now but on Tuesday we decided to go down to Orlando in early December (3rd - 10th) and I booked a car through National yesterday.

They apparently have an unused inventory of premium sized vehicles (probably because of the low gas mileage/cost of gas) and those vehicles were available at the lowest price of any car class (for instance, Premium @ $115.62 for the week versus Compact @ $280.02/week) for my week. So, that base rate with a $35 discount from a National email offer plus taxes and fees brought the cost for the week to $128.48 (about $20 less than a midsize we booked through National for the same week last year).

So, for those of you who are going early in the month, it may be worth checking different vehicle classes to see if you can lower your cost.

What corp code did you use?

We're going Dec 16-27, renting from Mobile, AL

I've been checking everywhere but I've found the best rate (so far) through carrentalsavers.com for $489 (Enterprise) for a minivan.

They don't ask for a credit card to reserve so I went ahead & reserved it. Definately hoping it goes down...

Thanks for posting this information. Using Contract ID 5028684 and Coupon Code ND8578ADT, I was able to book a premium car through National picking up 12/2 at 10PM and returning 12/10 at 6PM for $108.98. I had our full size reservation through Alamo down to $95.12 for the same dates but the extra $13 is worth the upgrade.

The website says that premium cars at MCO are Buick Regal or similar. Does anyone know the selection of "or similar" premium cars at MCO?

Those are pretty good, but for my dates, 12/9-17, the midsize SUV comes up cheapest and its $168 total. Sticking with my full at alamo so far.

Last year we had a Mercury Grand Marquis in the premium class at MCO.
