Is Thrifty or Dollar car rentals any good? I usually go with Budget or Avis but can get a good rate with thrifty or dollar.

I used Dollar for the first time this summer for non-FL rentals and was very pleased -- CA and TX locations. Both were fast check in and return, clean vehicles.

I will be using them in FL in December.

Prior to this summer I've used National almost exclusively. The only con of Dollar is the extra expense to add a driver.

For week of 12/2-12/10 we are getting $143 for a Premium (Crown Vic) and $95 for a full size (Charger) before fees. We are getting these fees with code WN28 (double SW points) and 700.

Sorry, the $35 coupon is AD2359FDF. I am picking up on 12/14 at 9:30 pm and dropping off on 12/22 at 3:30 pm. My rate with the costco code (7015309) and the coupon is $141 (this includes my surcharge for rapid rewards). Without the surcharge the same rental shows up as $133.

My alamo rental is now down to $119.

I canceled my National reservation with the Ohio State code. Best rate I could find but it came with a LDW and if we had any problems or an accident that could have spelled trouble. Still have a Dollar reservation for $145.
I need something better but I'm wondering if it is going to happen. Going 12 - 17 through 12 -21, flying into Sanford.

Entertainment ID with ND8578ADT [$35 off from National site]

Midsize SUV is $220, Fullsize SUV is $276. Cars are more expensive.... the Full size for exec aisle service is still $297. So, the guarentee is still better than the gamble. Still no where near my $110 for the week off the aisle in Feb that netted me an SUV, but every little bit helps.

Used code WN28 to get double SW points. $111/week; $127 with our extra day; $189 with all fees.

Mid-Size = $74/wk
Standard Car = $88/wk
Mid SUV = $143/wk
Mini-Vans are down but still over $500

Got an E-mail from Alamo Insiders with $35 off coupon (through 12/15)
Checked my 12/15-12/23 travel dates and got a midsize car for $125.83 TOTAL COST for 8 days! I think that will be a keeper.

Meanwhile, my 6 day trip in October is still pricing at $280+ - go figure!

Luckily, I'm on site in OCtober and not in December, so I won't complain. I have the cheap rates when I really need them.

I've never had to have it, which is good b/c I never bother to print out the e-coupon!

There's no coupon for the contract ID, you just show your Entertainment card to them. If you're using an Entertainment book coupon, it depends on the rental company if they'll ask to see the coupon. Enterprise *always wants my coupon, none of the others every ask for it. I do make sure I bring the coupon though just in case.

I bet they have one you print out at the time you get the membership. Since the plastic cards have your pic on them, you might have to go to the store to get your permanent card.

Can you make a midsize work? With alamo, changing to a 9:30 pm pick up and 3:30 pm drop off, using the costco code (7015309) and the $35 coupon (ad2359fdf), I get $159 total.
