I recently checked the fall school calendar for our district, and winter break begins Dec. 20 this year.

I was wondering if all schools will be starting on the 20th since Christmas falls on a Saturday. We are going to WDW on Dec. 16 -23, but if all the schools are out it may be really crowded.

We live in the Detroit area, and our son will start his Christmas break that same week - December 20th.

I checked several area districts (central PA) and they all start vacation on Christmas Eve (24th).

Im suspecting then that WDW will be pretty crowded the week of the 20th. Do the crowds start immediately or will they start Christmas Eve thru New Years?

LIFERBABE,

Im looking at the exact same dates as you. We officialy start our break on the 20th. We would take the red eye out of Seattle on the 15th and arrive at 6:30am on the 16th and stay until the 23rd. I figure it is going to get busier as we get closer to Christmas so the first day or two we will hit our favorite parks. This is the only time we can go this year so we will just make the best of it!

Are you doing MVMCP?

I'm thinking of going standby so we get there early on the 16th so we can do MVMCP on Thursday night instead of Friday night.

Im hoping to get a jump on the crowds too! We will do alot of non park days and Disney Quest.

I have not made a decision on MVMCP yet. We have done it the past two years and the day after we always sleep in till noon. My kids do really well staying the whole night and it takes a whole day to recover. We have gone during thanksgiving the past two years and so MVMCP was at the end of our trip and it didnt matter if we slept in late the next day. If we were to do that early in the week it may cut into park time this trip. My DH has not looked at the schedule yet so Im sure once he see's I dont have it planned he will insist we go. That is one of his very favorites!

If we do go it will be on the 16th instead of the 17th!
