Dec. 2, 2007-4 night Wonder and MouseFest Cruise

Made it back home!

I met a few from our cruise.........hoped to either meet or run into a few more. I was a little bit disappointed about that. :(

Thank you Secret Santas!!! Tim, Lynda, and Jill thank you as well! It was fun!

I had a great time. I was sick from the time I arrived however. LOL Got a feeling of a soar throat Thursday evening when we arrived at WDW and then it just progressed from there. Jill and I also got a little sea sick the first night of the cruise. We hardly ate anything our first night at dinner.

Ran into Michael and Marc a few times! Missed your pirate costumes though. :( We did manage to make it down to Diversions to watch the Steeler game as sick as we were and we met Rachel and her husband Charles.....very nice couple and enjoyed spending time with them. Sorry Rachel and Charles we weren't more sociable, but it was because we were both trying to fight the sea sickness. Seen Inkmahn and her husband at Palo. She came and introduced herself.

We enjoyed the cruise!

Can't wait to hear back from everyone!

Hi all,

We had a wonderful time on the cruise also. :goodvibes It just went way too fast. I enjoyed meeting many of you!!!! The secret santa game was lots of fun. Thank you to our secret santas and to Virginia for organizing it :) . The kids enjoyed looking into their stockings everyday for goodies:santa:

Joy, I am sorry that we didn't meet up during the cruise and that you weren't feeling very well. I came down with a little bug last night, but now am feeling better thankfully. I hope you are feeling better now.

I look forward to hearing from everyone also. I hope everyone enjoyed their vacation!

Vicki,

Got a generic Z-Pak today and got started on it. Thanks for asking!

Glad you're feeling better!

Hi all! We got back late Thursday night and I'm STILL trying to get the unpacking done and house in order. Wish we could have met more of you, but vacationing with three kids is not as easy as I thought and I barely had time to eat (boohoo!). We all had a great time and it was the perfect time to go for us since the baby is still in the "sit and smile" stage. I even put him in the nursery for a few hours to take the kids to the shows (I'm very proud of myself for that!) The ladies there were awesome. Hope everyone else is settling back into daily life okay and not missing the Wonder TOO much!

Oh, and for anyone who's so inclined to agree...was Jack Sparrow HOT or what?????!!!!!! The two teen girls in line in front of us for autographs were SWOONING....so was I, secretly!!!! heeheehee:love:

Hi Jennifer,

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to meet you and your family. I would have enjoyed meeting you. Our kids enjoyed the cruise too. It sure went by fast! We also used the nursey once and were very happy with them. I was kind of worried how Isaac would do, but he actually slept most the time so that made it easy. We just got home yesterday, since we drove down. I do miss the Wonder  and booked 2 more cruises while we were on the ship. :cool1: Did you rebook on the cruise? I was happy how good our 5 month old was. He was better behaved than our 3 and 5 year old. :rotfl2:

Yup.....he was too hot! Jill and I wanted to get our picture with him, but didn't because he was standing in the sand. We were afraid that our scooters would get stuck in the sand. :rotfl: We should have asked the CM if he would move out of the sand so we could get our picture with him, but we didn't. :(

My 3 and 5 yo had several moments...they were very overstimulated and overtired and I'm sure the neighbors heard my raised voice several times! I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to meet as well, we would have had so much fun hanging out! When are your other cruises? I'm trying to convince DH to book another, maybe I'll use your trips as leverage!

We did one of the character greetings on the ship to meet him, and to use my own phrase (that unfortunately my daughther is saying now)--"YUMALICIOUS!" At least she uses it to describe food and not pirates YET! :rotfl:

The sand was a problem for wheels, our stroller got stuck several times and it was a real headache. I hope you didn't have too many problems!

I think we would of had fun hanging out too. We booked our next cruise for a 4 nite cruise for Dec. 7th for next year and then the following Dec. 5th 2009we are going to do a 7 night cruise for the 1st time. The St. Croix Eastern itinerary. Hopefully you can convince your husband to go on another cruise :goodvibes I keep thinking of what I would be doing last week at this time on the Wonder :santa:

Those sound like what we would want to do as well (the right time of year) and he wants to schedule, but I don't know how I feel about pulling the kids out of school. My oldest is in K now so I didn't feel so bad but when it gets to the "more serious" grades, I'm a bit worried about it. What do you think?

Is anyone a member of the Vacation Club? We went to one of the presentations and I'd like some feedback on it.

Hi Jennifer,

We have been taking our 9 year old out of school the last 4 cruises. We usually get her work ahead of time and try to do as much as we can before we leave. I try not to worry about it too much, though I am sure it will be a little trickier as we hit middle school. I figure it is just so much cheaper this time of the year than when the kids are off of school.

I am not a member of the Vacation Club, but I know some of our cruisers on our thread are---hopefully they can give you more info on it.

We came home Sat. to cold and very snowy weather. I keep thinking last week at this time, it was so nice and warm at Nassau:)

Expense is the main reason we choose to vacation in Dec. as well--I know tons of people pull their kids out, I just always feel weird about it, even when he was in preschool. Of course, if I really think about it, if I homeschooled I could do it whenever I wanted so I guess it's really no big deal. There were a TON of kids on the cruise, so everyone else must be doing it!

It is so nasty here! Wish I could be sitting by the pool now eating ice cream!

We had two teachers at our table, I had discussed with them about my concerns of taking them out of school. They were funny, that said ya!, take them out, why not were playing hookie. They also said that quality family time is also an importain life lession. So now I don't feel as bad as I did before. :cool1: Magic here we come

Someone told me at one of the land Mousefest events, that the Wonder's Dec. 6 cruise immediately after ours was delayed or cancelled due to a mechanical problem, possibly related to the power failure Monday evening. Did anyone else hear anything about that? Or did anyone ever get any credible information about what caused the power to "blink" on our cruise?

I would like to know this too as the power on our deck was out for a few minutes and it terrified me (my 3 yo was in the kids club and I was afraid as to how I would get to her, if she was scared, etc.). It was DARK on deck 2!!!

For those of you who are debating if taking your kids out of school for a cruise will cause them lifelong "damage", just wanted to assure you that my daughter, who missed a number of days of school for several Disney trips and one cruise, is now at college on a full ride scholarship--so obviously it didn't hurt her. No need for any "guilt".

I realize, of course, every child is different, and not all can handle missing a full week, but if you think your child can make up the work, then don't hesitate. You know your child better than anyone else!!

Now she is in college and can't sail with us anymore, so our opportunities for family times-- at least childhood experiences-- are gone. She has obviously made up the academic work, but we could never make up the "memories" had we missed these experiences!! They grow up so fast, every moment is precious--take full advantage of it now whenever you can.

What if Wendy had worried about school instead of flying to Neverland with Peter?

I haven't heard anything, But We were at PALOs for dinner when the power went out. Dinner still was wonderful as always.
