Dec 18, 2011 - Disney Dream

I thought the info wasn't being announced until Oct 18. Did I miss the big announcement?????

I've been really busy at work so I may have missed it. I thought the big announcement held in NY just passed and was a big ol' bust. Is there another big announcement coming...? :confused3

Hi all - we just moved from our Spring Break 2011 cruise to this one - we're super excited! December will work out better for us than March. Our family will be me, DH Scott, DD (14) and grandma Pauline, who will be celebrating her 70th birthday.

Really looking forward to this - we also are doing a B2B with the 12/22 Dream cruise. 4 nights is just too short for us.

This is our second cruise - the first was a 7nt Western on the magic in March of this year. We really loved it.

We would love to participate in a FE exchange - should be fun to put a holiday spin on it!

Hi Jenny and Laura! Work's been keeping me crazy busy. We're now 1 yr away so I would expect more people to be on here by now...:confused3. Maybe people will rebook after they get off this year's. ;)

We thought about doing a B2B too but decided to just hit WDW for a few days instead. So along those lines, we cancelled the Jan WDW trip. I'm going away for the weekend locally instead with a couple of friends. :dance3:

Any suggestions for livening this thread up a little?

Also, I tried updating the initial thread with celebrations so if I'm missing anything, let me know.

Well, take us back off the tenative list...dadgum school calendar. They're gonna make us go that Monday and Tuesday. GRRRRR! My DH is a minister so that makes Christmas break at home next year. Boo!

Removed from the list. I'm sure you'll enjoy Christmas break at home.

I checked online today and several categories are sold out already!

We'll be on the cruise too!! My son and I are definitely on the Dream..I'm still waiting on a couple of friends to decide if they are going or not. My DS (14) will be turning 15 on the cruise. This will be our fourth Disney cruise but are so excited to be on the new ship. Looking forward to meeting all of you...DIS members always make our cruises extra special.

Hi, I didn't see a thread for our cruise leaving Dec. 18, 2011. Anyone else on this one with us? We took our 1st DC last June and my DD decided she wanted her 10th bday on the Dream. So I booked it while we were onboard and here we are. Her bday is actually the 16th but it will still be magical. Can't wait to here from you guys.

Hi All,

We are from the DFW area also (Bedford). This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. We were on the 06/04/10 cruise and had a blast. So much fun that I booked this one as a birthday present for my DD. Her bday is 12/16 but it will still be magical onboard. We are flying out a few days early so we can spend her actual bday at WDW. My DD will be 10 and DS will be 6 at the time of cruise. My MIL and FIL are also joinging us and a few single moms with their kiddos. They are very excited since it will be their first cruise. Anyone on deck 7?

Hi, welcome too! We're spending a few days at WDW first too. I think several of us are so we may run into each other even before the cruise! I own DVC so will be booking our room shortly at the 11 month window, I'm planning on arriving 12/14. I don't remember if we're on deck 6 or 7, but defintely one of the two!

Hi - I am one of the friends sdhines mentioned. It will be our first Disney cruise. My DD will be turning 6 on the boat. She is super excited about spending brithday with the princesses. We will be hitting WDW prior to departure.

Any other single parents going to be on cruise too?? Any suggestions on excursions to do with DD 6?? What it worth it and what is not??

Help this 1st time Disney cruiser!

I found the meets thread for your sailing in the Meets section and merged your thread with the Meets thread.

We're on the Dream on 12/18, too! Me, my guy, and my DS (6). We're also from TX (DFW area). First DCL for all of us. So excited!

as anyone been on a cruise during December. I have received different replies regarding the weather. Some say the waters are really rough so the boat rocks a lot and others say the weather was perfect and everyone was swimming.

Since this will be my 2nd cruise I am still trying to learn all the lingo. What is fish extenders I see some of you talking about???

Wondering that myself. :)

Fish extenders are a way for cruisers to do swaps. They are called fish extenders because they usually hang on the fish figures that are mounted on the wall outside the stateroom door and thus "extend" them. They are used for others that are participating in your FE swap to drop off their gifts. I have not participated in them but some of the FE-ers are very creative in designing their FE holders and FE gifts. The gifts are usually inexpensive store-bought or homemade mementos that are distributed to everyone else participating in the swap by dropping them in the participating cruisers FEs.

And, of course, you can always search the forum for "fish extender" or "FE". Hope this helps!

Forgot to add that I have seen some folks on here that have made FEs for other cruisers (the actual extenders, not the gifts).
