I'm looking to do a mom and son (15 years old) the week pf Dec 17-22, staying at POP. How will the parks, wait times, weather, etc be? We always go first week of Oct but wanting to do Christmas stuff to change it up. I understand no one knows exact, just looking for a ballpark. TIA

we went those exact dates last year. The first two dates were low moderate crowds and they got heavier each day. As long as you have a plan you will be fine. We did the Christmas party so there were low wait times for rides and we utilized our Fps well. We had a great time. Staying next year Dec. 14-19. Weather is unpredictable it was 40s and 90s. Wear layers.

We just did a mom and son trip from Dec. 16 - Dec. 21, 2016. We also did Dec. 25 - Dec. 30, 2015 and, in comparison, going earlier made a big difference in crowd levels. MK was always the most crowded and wait times build considerably throughout the day, so, if you plan to go to the parks early and make good use of FP+, it's definitely manageable. We really didn't find AK, EP or DHS to be too terribly crowded. Certainly the more popular rides, again, had longer wait times later in the day, but it was never wall-to-wall people like it was over Christmas week. The weather both years was in the 70's-80's (with lower temps earlier in the morning) and we could swim and wore shorts the whole time, but weather can be variable.

Thank you! I'm excited to finally be going in Dec, I kinda figured it would be comparable to Oct on hours n crowds. We got a pretty decent deal, hoping for decent flight prices.. but not holding my breath on that week.

We just got back from a Christmas trip and arrived the night of Dec. 18. We noticed crowds were okay the first couple days we were there and started picking up for Christmas crowds around the 20-21st, with very busy crowds setting in a couple days before Christmas. Just go in with at least a vague touring plan, and you should have mostly moderate crowds and have a great time! Our philosophy was that we would have a list of a few priority rides/experiences, but also know that a Christmas trip would be different than an off-season trip and to temper our expectations and plan to spend more time enjoying the "atmosphere" and decorations when things got busier. I'll also note: we had gorgeous weather. A few days got down into the high 50s, but we had a lot of hot days and almost no rain. But we've been in past years the same time of year and had to wear 3 layers with temps in the 40s. So check the long-range forecast before you go and pack a few layers! Have an amazing trip!

We will be there Dec 16-22. We went in 2015 a week earlier in December and it was the best trip ever weather and crowd wise. I anticipate growing crowds but a fantastic time anyway!

we had trouble with airfare pricing. Trip down on Dec. 15 was $80 trip back was $210. Try flying in the middle of the week if possible.
