Debt Dumpers - 2013

Just an update on the BB&B situation - I ended up sending them an email explaning my problem after I hung up with them. The person I corresponded with via email was a lot more helpful and ended up canceling the order & having my funds reinstated. I checked this morning and it has been removed from my pending charges. I have no idea why the guy I first spoke to couldn't do this in the first place but at least it's been resolved. And that card has been deactivated & a replacement is on the way!

That is great news Jenny!! Glad you emailed BB&B. It just depends who you deal with sometimes!

Oh Gracie...Good Luck, I hate going to the dentist with a passion, even though mine is so nice and explains everything that needs/will to be done. (doesn't help) Hope you have a good outcome.

Thanks! I hate going to the dentist too, and the one that I normally use is retiring so he has put me in with another dentist. I had my new dentist a couple weeks ago, and he seems really sweet and gentle (and absolutely adorable and handsome :) ) But I still dread going. I am taking a guess that the xrays are going to show 8 cavities. I hope less, but who knows. Guess that's what I get for going so long without taking care of my teeth.

Gracie I feel your pain! I just had 3 cavities, deep cleaning, and 1 crown done on half my mouth. I go back in 2 weeks to get permanent crown, 3 more cavities, and deep cleaning on other side of my mouth. I will never go so long again without a visit to the dentist. It will be every 6 months from now on.
Thank goodness I have a bunch of money in my HSA account to cover the expense.

DH and I are going to sit down this weekend and get back on track. We do good during the winter months but once summer gets here we get lazy and don't stick to our budget! I want to get the rest of the year planned out as DH coaches soccer and makes a good chunk of money between now and Nov. I want to make sure we have a plan with the money so we can get bills paid down. My car will be paid for in Oct, I have one small loan that I make the last payment on this Thursday. So in Oct. we will have an additional $922 a month. I want to put half of that away towards new car fund as DHs truck is over 10 years old and the rest toward paying down debt.

Way to go on getting your debt paid down! Once you have that additional money it will make a huge difference!
Atleast you have an HSA account. I have no dental insurance at all, so everything is out of pocket. I will post the damage from the results later! But my plan once I find out what needs to be done is spread it out and make sure it's completed by year end so I can do a medical deduction on my taxes. I wish you could deduct it all without that 7.5%.

Great news...maybe you just talked to a newbie when you called in the other day...still it should have been handled correctly then...:confused3

Thanks! I think the man I spoke with over the phone had to be new. He had no idea how to handle the situation and kept stumbling over what he was saying. I feel bad for hanging up on him, I know it wasn't his fault, but I was frustrated. I work in customer service and laugh it off when things like that happen to me so hopefully he did the same! At least it's all sorted out now.

Okay, the verdict is in! I have 8 cavities and need 2 crowns. I was spot on with needing 8 fillings....hmm...maybe I should play the lottery tonight :rotfl2:
So, to get everything completed, looking at around $4600  So I need to sit down tomorrow and plan my budget. This will mean absolutely no vacation next year either :sad1: Oh well. I guess if I look at the bright side, I will be able to sit home and smile :confused3

Honeybunches,

Sorry July wasn't a great month for debt dumping for you, but I agree with you that your family is way more important.

Remember People first, then money, then things. Money never comes first. You made memories with people you care about, you will have them forever. Long after that last credit card or bill is gone.

This is SO true!. :)

Been gone a few weeks again. That stupid work. :lmao:

I am so glad the summer vacation is over! No more day care, no more swim lessons. ugh. My house payment fund will not be completed in mid August as I wanted. My goal is October, but I really wanted it done in August. Oh well, I will get it there hopefully by September 1st. No news yet from my mortgage guy. But since I started this journey, the interest rate has gone up 1.25%. :( This makes me very sad and stressed.

yikes! But we all have gone without a vacation for a few years. It's ok. :) You will be smiling beautifully.

I feel your dental pain. DD had braces put on the first of August so I had to make a nice downpayment. Next day DW broke a crown that required oral surgery to get the pieces of the brittle tooth out (ins. doesn't cover of course). DD had to have 3 teeth pulled for the braces process last week. Gotta love Murphy.

I have been keeping up with your ticker for months now, as I'm sure many other Disers have, your goal must have been so overwhelming back when you first started and look at you now.

I know the interest rates have gone up but your goal is so near don't worry you will be locking a great rate in very soon.

I was single but no children 27 years ago when I purchased my home the interest rate was 9.7% (it has come down every year) so you should be able to get a better rate then me. :rotfl:

I remember my biggest worry back then was if anyone would give me a loan as a woman not many would.

So GOOD LUCK and please let us know as soon as that GOAL has been reached we are all CHEERING YOU ON :cheer2:

Thank you. That really brought tears to my eyes. :flower3:

I just received an email from my mortgage guy. He said that even with the $145 a month increase, that is not a problem with the debt ratio to my salary. But he also said that if I could bring an extra $2000 to closing in November, it would bring my interest rate back down to 3.50%. That $2000 is for fees to get into another program and it would not go towards my downpayment. :( but in the long run, squeezing another $2000 before November and getting a 3.5% is much better than keeping 4.50 for the next 30 years. Looks like I will be cancelling all fun for the next 3 months. But the prize is worth it!! Even though he said he will get back with me, I am going forward thinking that is what I have to do. So you will see my ticker % go down as I increase my goal.

You have done a phenomenal job with saving for your downpayment. I also remember when this thread first started how far you still had to go to reach your goal, and you have exceeded that!! You should be proud of yourself!

Thank you! So its actually $3,000 more. :( But I WILL do it!! If we cut out ALL fun paying stuff, no eating out, stopping all lessons. I can do it. I can do it.

I've finally paid mine off except one. It's a promo and only $25 a month. I figure ill just pay the $25 a month and use the rest of my money to put in my ....
- Xmas account- just put $100 in it :)
-52 week savings challenge
- vacation fund
-$50 a month pulled from my check into special savings account. Starting sept 17th it will start pulling $100 :)

I find myself obsessing over saving now

I am the same way! It's funny once you get the debt paid off your obsessed with saving the money :thumbsup2 I am trying to budget out my money now for some upcoming bills that I have already saved for and put in savings - but think if I can re-budget my paychecks I won't have to touch the money in savings :lmao: I hate to see the balance go down in that account!
