Debt Dumpers - 2013

I did email my mortgage guy and this was his response. I'm guessing maybe I misunderstood. It sounds like they aren't doing another check until later.

Hi Austin,

I had my pre-construction meeting yesterday and Joe said you will have to do another pre-approval. Can you let me know how things are looking when you get it done? I am doing exactly what you are telling me to do with the CC. What are the interest rates at right now?

Christine

Hi Christine,
Thank you for the heads up. We will be updating your file closer to closing. Good to hear about your CC. that will make those scores go way up. Rates are kind of all over the board right now. have you been watching the news?

:scared: I am very nervous about the rates. I wish he would do another check just to set my mind at ease. And after this, all my kids want to do is go out to eat. sigh. 1% will increase my mortgage about $100. :(

The waiting is the worst!! I am personally a very impatient person anyways, right to the point if I want something and have to drive an hour to a store to get it, then I will!! Just so I don't have to wait for it to be shipped :rotfl2: I know, i'm crazy :)

I'm like that too! Last week I spent hours going all over town to various Old Navy stores - I saw a shirt online on Thursday that I decided I just HAD to have to wear to a thing on Monday. Waiting for it to arrive just wasn't good enough :snooty: :rotfl:

My train out of town for work got really delayed this morning, meaning that I got into town at 3pm for my 1pm-3pm meeting :furious: I only get paid if I'm actually AT the meetings, ugh, there goes that $$!!

Lol! I did that with a dress I saw on kohls! I drove 45 minutes for it and won't be really needing it until October! Unless a nice event pops up!
I would be mad about the meeting to if I were you! Will they reschedule it at all?

I work in mortgages, but the post-closing side. Your rate can only be locked for 60 days on certain kinds of loans. Which is probably why they are waiting to the last minute to run your credit report for a better score. Pixie dust your way for a good rate.

:rotfl: I'm pretty laid back so I don't mind shipping/ Two exceptions that roast my buns...1. I hate being disrespected (by my kids or anyone) 2. Someone messing with my money. Thats why I am very anxious.

Thanks. :) I wish them pulling it wouldn't negatively affect my score...I just need confirmation. lol

Good luck ceemys!!

I couldn't reschedule my meeting, boo. But there is a training thing I can go to which will make the hours back up... I'm just peeved because if I hadn't missed the original meeting, I could've done both for OT. But oh well!

I'm the exact opposite. I love ordering things online and having them shipped. Especially during Christmas time! People are nuts and I don't want to deal with them if I don't have to lol.

:lmao:
I'm just the opposite. My work day is crazy long: 8-5 plus allowing 45 mins each way commuting. I'm too tired after work to go shopping and most of my household chores have to wait til the weekend so I really don't feel like stopping to run errands then either. When ds13 was a baby, I bought binkies online from Amazon. I didn't care if they were pink or whatever; I just wanted to be at home! They did sent gender neutral.

I take it your not a Black Friday shopper then?? Lol

We just closed on our refi on Friday & yes the waiting was so hard! I had no idea it would take so long! 2 months from start to finish, we closed with just days left on our locked-in rate. I figured once we approved it would a week or so - nope - another month! Hang in there, it's very worth it!

Congrats! We just modified our home equity loan from 6% down to 2.99 and for some reason I still don't know, it took FIVE months from start to finish! And they didn't even have to do a new appraisal or anything. I was starting to feel like it wasn't worth the hassle. Our payment is only $5 less per month, but we are saving some interest and cut a couple of months off the term.

I've never had a chance to. I work in a hospital and I'm thankful to get TG off. I've had BF off twice in 23 years and the last time it was for a cruise.
I'm more a cyber Monday girl. ;)

Thanks!

I really think this stress is getting to me. I don't know if it just my kids are feeding off of my stress or they are bored from summer or my patience level just has dropped considerably. All I seem to do is yell at them. They don't listen! Whenever I tell them to do something, I get "No ...", "I don't want to, I want to do this..." Or they just ignore me. All I want to do is cry anymore. I've gained about 8 lbs back in 2 months of the 23 I lost. :( I don't buy the healthy food anymore because it is too much money. Daycare cost this summer has stressed me out. $400 each month. I have takend them to a few movies and we have gone out to eat a couple of times, just to get us out of the apartment and give us a break. This Saturday we are going to the county fair (thank goodness it's free and there are no rides-we will bring our lunch)...I pray they don't bicker and they listen to me.

jmho but when my kids get fresh and/or don't want to do as I ask after a few reminders, I take away one of their favorite "toys". I've been doing this since they were around 3 and it works. I've rarely had to do it lately. Now matter what age, there's always some thing/privilege that they love. That's my leverage. I've driven around with xbox controllers in my minivan, carried ds's ipod in my purse, whatever works.
When I know I'm changing gears & going to start getting strict about something, I announce 'there's a new sheriff in town' then lay down the law. :thumbsup2
Do you have a deadline to get your house? Maybe you're stretching yourself too thin? Being eager to save is a good thing but when I feel like I'm neglecting important things just to save more $, then I have to throttle back a little.

I don't let them get away with it, but I have to yell or take stuff away before they will listen. I used to do sassy juice. I told them I am starting that again every time they ignore me or their first response is "no". I am OK with "getting the money" part of my house. Its just the interest rate (I know I don't have control) has gone up 1% since I started this adventure and that raises my monthly mortgage about $100. :( And that monthly rate is stressing me out.

I read many stories on here, from the beginner to the success stories.
I started over 5 years ago to seriously start paying off our debt.
I can say all our credit cards are paid off:cool1:
We had a low balance on a JCPenney card of $400
to Furniture of $2,000
and a card with almost over $5,000.

We also just put 4 kids through college. Along the way we always helped them with the offset of tuition that didn't get covered by grants/loans. We bought groceries and supplies. All 4 of my kids held full time or part time jobs while they were in college. Our one dd even had 3 part time jobs while attending college. They all still ended up with at least $30,000 in student loans. Tuition at all the state colleges ran around $8,000, some higher, some lower.

We also had a few Parent Loans that we took out and I am on my last loan and will hopefully have it paid off by the end of September.

Our youngest dd graduated last December. We were looking at her loans and she has about $30,000. Then we remember there was a Sallie Mae out there. Her first year of college she lived in the dorm-mandatory and she barely got any financial aid that year. We helped pay for her tuition. Her loan was for $7,000 which covered room, meal plan and books. 5 years later, the interest is an additional $2671. The loan is at 6.9%. It compounds interest every day. Not every 30.

We told her we would take on this loan. We also showed her that she needs to make her minimum payments on her other student loan, and told her not to consolidate. Her government loan is all with the same institute, but they are all separated from each other. We told her not to consolidate, and showed her how to snowball. Her lowest one is $250.

I have been so sad thinking we were finally seeing some daylight and climbing out of this debt, but l guess sometimes there are curve balls that set you back. I used to have a vacation fund, but I am using that money to pound down this loan. Hopefully by this time next year I can come back and say the loan is gone.

Wow, your daughter is so lucky to have you. On our wedding day my husband's parents handed over the payment books to their parent loans they took our for his eduction. He and I both have our own loans to add to that. My parents paid $1000 one time and that was all they were willing or able to do. We graduated 15 years ago and still have a long way to go before its all paid off. We consolidated to make it reasonable to pay the monthly payments. We are both teachers so it's not like we went to medical school or anything.

I wish you guys were my parents - mine paid my rent through college but didn't get involved in my tuition at all, and my loans are solely my responsibility.

Ceemys, sorry your kids are giving you a hard time, that's so tough. Maybe some tough love is in order, the first sign of them not listening to you and it's time-out time? It sounds like you're trying really hard to have everyone spending time together with the movies and everything, and you don't need the extra stress by having them disobey you - maybe a few days of Tough Mommy would put them back on the right path?

I get to go home from my work trip tonight instead of tomorrow morning  I can't wait to get home and see my cat again and sleep in my own bed. And I'm so excited to deposit my checks from the trip and pay my bills that I've been sitting in my hotel room and organizing where all the money is going and working out how much extra I can throw at my debt... I know, I'm such an exciting person :rotfl:
