Debt Dumpers - 2013

we paid off our mastercard today!! it's so nice to have a zero balance. :)

thank you all...it was a relatively short haul for us. NOW comes the hard part...continuing t stay on track and put away money for our retirement regularly...aka paying ourselves first.

We've decided to really cut down our debt rather than go to Disney this year. I know it's the responsible thing to do, but still a bummer.

Priceless *Credit Card* balance is OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Just paid it off and took it out of my wallet.
This feels great.:cool1:

We are working the debt snowball and going on a Disney vacation while still in debt. Dave Ramsey would not be proud but we have tweaked his program a little and I don't feel guilty! My kids will only be little once and if I wait until the perfect time to go on vacation, it will never come. If I wait two years my oldest will be in college and probably wouldn't get to go with us, that would make me sad! We are not a family that goes to Disney every year or other large trips every year so enjoying our vacations when they come is important to us! We also get a few thousand for our tax return and we aren't going to change our withholdings to not get a refund, also a big DR no-no. Probably going to have a car payment soon, another no-no! I am a terrible DR student!!! ha ha ha!

Gracie, I read that and am so excited for you!!! I would love to see the lights and castle at Christmas time. . . one day! I also read that you officially have no cc debt, way to go! You should be proud of yourself! I still have a long way to go but am seeing progress with some of my little cards gone! Not that it matters but we are using tax return $ to go on vacation and get a new roof, that is the tax return $ from this year and next! I figured once my kids are a bit older and Santa isn't so center stage, we would travel to Disney at Christmas time! Have a wonderful time!

Excited to be moving towards eliminating our debt this year AND going to Disney next year. We haven't been since 2009 and have slowly been hacking away at our debt. We have several credit cards paid off and by July of this year we will have one car paid off along with 90% of our cards and medical bills paid off. If my freelance work picks up then we can pay off ALL of our cards by the end of the year.

that is awesome:thumbsup2 i held off on a vacation last year so i didn't have to stretch or go into debt. i can't wait to take a vacation this year knowing i have taken away a chunk of my loans.

Paid off the smallest medical bill today. It wasn't much but it felt good to not have to make a payment plan for it.

Believe me, I'm already in on this one. I have two cards left I need to pay off. I've closed a couple of accounts that had finally been paid off so I wouldn't have the urge to use them. I should use the snowball affect but I'm not simply because I hate seeing the interest that keeps adding up. So for my big one for the time being i'm paying off $50 at a time and whatever i can afford a check to pay off the littler one. Once the little one is paid off (hopefully 4 more payments or less god willing) I'll be throwing more into the bigger one. I'm doing at least one payment a paycheck so at least twice a month sometimes even more and when that's all said and done I'll start disciplining myself to budget better and start some savings for bigger & better things. Hopefully I won't have any curve balls before the payments are done. good luck to everyone else as well.

We would love to go January 28-February 5 2014, we went this time of year 3 years ago and loved it. Not busy, not super hot and nice to get out of the snow for a few days that time of year! I don't know my kids exact school schedule for next year yet and last time we waited to book and got 30% discount for our room, really praying for the discount again! Have a lovely Christmas time visit, you deserve it!

Haven't been on this thread for a while, but don't worry - all I've been thinking about is paying off debt! LOL

Congrats Gracie on being cc debt free. That's going to make your trip all the more sweeter!

It seems whenever I get excited about having extra $ towards debt something happens. This pay it was $400 in vehicle repairs. Yech. And we already get by with one vehicle, so it's not like we can hold off. Next pay it's new tires. Double yech.

But, in the past we would have put these on the cc, so at least we are making headway by paying cash!

We still have snow here, but hopefully soon the weather will be nicer and we can get out and do lots of stuff that's free (hiking, concerts in the parks, etc.) which will help make putting money towards debt and not doing anything a little less painful. :rotfl:

Congrats everyone on your progress. Keep up the good work. :wizard:

I pay off the lil debt but recharge the cards because I'm using my paycheck to payoff the new debt that comes in. This week I plan on taking out my cc from my purse and only using one if needed . I stayed with $100 for the next 2 weeks. I have 2 more months of pay checks ( paid 2x a month). I'm hoping to get it all paid off by next month so my June pay checks can be used for the 2 months I'm off in the summer w/out pay. I will also have $500 waiting for me July 1st from money I had pulled out of each check. It's the first time I had them take money out so I'm still ahead. In the past I went with 0 savings and it was hard . This year with the extra cash I hope I don't have to use cc so I really need to payoff the lil debt by next month and no more charging except for gas :(
