Debt collection

On September 26th 2004 my father died, its now July 27th 2009 and I get a letter from a debt collection agency with another debt from him. Just when I think we have got the last one sorted out yet another one pops up!!!!!!!!! How long are they going to pester us? I mean there is no way of knowing if there are any more not after this length of time.

Legally the debt is gone as he died without assets, BUT that doesn't stop them from trying to scare people into paying (in fact many do) and its brought up all sort of unpleasant memories for my mother (she lives with me)
