Debit Cards?

For our upcoming trip to DLR, we have debit "gift" cards for our little ones to use for their spending money (better than cash, I think). My husband thinks there won't be many stores that will accept a debit card. Anyone have experience with this?

I would chose Disney cards. So much easier and accepted anywhere. Some debit cards carry fees.

If it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it you should be fine.

Debit/Credit/Gift cards are good options, but it's worth noting that the balloon sellers only accept cash. So if your kids want a balloon, make sure to have some cash on hand.

You may want to contact Disney to be sure they are accepted. Many places around where I live no longer accept them (even though they have Visa or MC on them). They also have to be processed differently than a regular credit card. Your kids will have to keep track of the balance as the exact amount has to be entered in to the machine. They have to know there is more ( or the exact amount ) is left on the card. For instance, if the total is $10.00 and the amount left on the card is $5.00, the cashier has to enter the sale as $5.00 then do another transaction for the balance or the card will be declined. It doesn't seem to work automatically.

My recommendation would be to give them Disney Gift Cards and keep some cash on hand for the few vendors that can't take cards ( some of the carts only take cash).

They are debit cards that are attached to our account. I can transfer their daily spending every morning from my phone and what they don't use rolls over. I have a Disney GC for each of them as a Christmas gift, but my concern about getting more is if they don't use it. I just wanted to verify that most shops in the park, US and Sea World accept debit cards I plan on bringing some cash, just not much.

If these are Disney gift cards then they are accepted everyplace in the parks.
I used one a few weeks ago to pay for everything.
