Debit card vs. DDP

Im thinking of using a disney debit card to pay for my meals rather than the DDP. This way I can pay for my meals with a pre-paid balance, similar to the DDP, without eating an overwhelming amount of food. Also, I can receive a receipt after my meals to track my balance, and use the leftover balance after my trip on whatever I choose. Has anyone else used a disney debit card instead of the DDP?

No, but I think it's a good idea for QS and TS. We didn't have FD this time (only week they didn't have it --- which was actually a benefit, less crowds, as there was FD week before and week after and saw influx on day when it kicked back in, but OT!).
Anyway, we didn't buy it and we were glad. We just don't eat like that, and then we just ate whatever and wherever we wanted. ( I had made a couple ADR's). We paid cash but your idea is basically the same, except you don't have to carry it. Alternatively, you could, for safety reasons, leave the money in the bank, use a credit card and then pay at home and get points or whatever for it.
You need some cash on hand, though, as there are many little purchases where you wouldn't want to deal with a card, like all the cool kiosk snacks and drinks.

If you're onsite, you can also charge everything to your room and pay the balance with a gift card.

I would add the balance to my room key/card and that way you'll have a running balance you can check and just charge everything to your room. Anything you don't use would be refunded. I'm not sure if the receipt would show a balance on a debit card, but I know it shows the balance you have left on your gift card.
