Debating DVC Purchase

I am not sure if that is still the case. The rack rate on moderate rooms has gotten a whole lot higher in the past couple years.

Between what we booked for March 2019 (likely booked about when packages came out in summer 2018) and what is posted now was enough to push us to DVC. The prospect of staying in 1 bedrooms with a kitchen helped (picky food allergy kid).

I wouldn't think people could make the points required for a 1 bedroom work in terms of "savings" vs a mod, but a studio definitely can.

And obviously, if your goal is the kitchen, you are at least guaranteeing yourself a much larger discount for the 1 bedroom.

For us, the turning point came when we offered to bring DDs boyfriend with us. We needed 2 rooms and started thinking what our future trips could look like with 2 young adult children. Free dining isn't as big of a discount with less people per room. As it turned out, free dining wasn't even offered for our resort of choice anyway. So, we definitely came out ahead.

So, even if we start spending more points/money on more rooms or larger rooms, DVC wasn't the cause, it was the solution.
