DEBATE:What makes the CB great OR what does it lack?

Let's have a civil debate about what makes the CB great or about what it lacks.

IMO, several years ago the CB had some colorful characters and there were usually several thought provoking threads. It was interesting.

What do you think? I'd love to hear from everyone but would especially love the opinion of those who have been around awhile.

What makes it great is that there are so many people of all different walks of life.

If I have a question about how to handle a medical problem, or legal problem, I'd get a faster response here than I would on a medical or law message board.

I think the funniest debate I ever read was the refillable mug episode. I never participated in that debate, I just sat back and laughed, and it made me go dig mine out in my keepsake Disney box. People are so passionate about their beliefs. I think that is what I like about the DIS.

Oh, and if I ever have a appliance problem, believe me the there will be a "Maytag Man-or his wife" on here who will help you out in a flash.

I like the number of posters and how most people are pretty friendly.

I don't like the fact that sometimes people are pretty judgemental.

okay, I haven't been here that long (a little over a year) and I know I've witnessed some changes but all in all the CB is what it is.

This community has grown a lot even in the short time I've been here and more people means more "action" (both good and bad).

I love the CB because I learn so much from this place! I am continually amazed at what people know!

I don't get into the debates, but I love to lurk and read them...I learn so much about different religions, politics, general news stuff.

I think there are still colorful characters and lots of interesting topics and thought provoking threads...they just may not appeal to EVERYONE...and they shouldn't really.

Yes it was, wasn't it?

I'm not saying it's all bad now, heck this is THE best Disney information board around. But when those colorful characters left, they seemed to have taken a large chuck of the "community" with them.

maybe there should be a board for all the polls and "does anybody else..." questions. the same person posts them incessantly. heck, there are 2 on page one here now. someone a while back used to do a "question of the day" thing but it was always a clever topic. <---they only posted one PER DAY *hint* *hint*


i miss the friday (i think it was friday) cat post...i don't remember who did that one.

The CB has grown a ton since I got here a few years ago. Personally I liked it better then. While I don't have a problem with cliques (that's part of life) I don't like how their threads have inundated the board. I don't like that there are one or two particular cliques that have a tendency to hijack the vast majority of the threads. The posters that made the COMMUNITY board feel like a community are no longer here. Some were banned, others left in protest. They were the ones who started the threads that anyone could get involved in, but that didn't just automatically turn into a hijacked mess, or a clique thread. I honestly don't believe these changes are simply because the board has grown so large. Sure that has some impact on it, but it's not the only thing. It is the specific people posting, not the numbers
I do like the fact that I can get a whole variety of threads in one place. That has always been the case, although, like I said before, the threads are moving a bit away from the community oriented threads to the clique threads. I'm not one to just jump into a clique; I am not in real life either. I don't feel left out; I just don't like the fact that there are less threads around now that either don't get hijacked, or that aren't exclusive

hmmm..maybe some people like those better than the fluff threads? I mean, thank goodness we all like different things but who are each one of us to say what is better than others?

Obviously some like the polls maybe not you but who cares?

I love the CB, but I do believe Pete could have a drawing once a month for an all expense paid vacation to WDW for 2 weeks for a family of 4, including, your choice of resorts, like the Poly, the Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, perhaps concierge and also include a nice meal package and of course theme park tickets and perhaps toss in some Cirque tickets. I do think this would be a nice addition to the board!

Who's with me? I bet we can talk him into this if we all stick together!
