DEBATE: Kerry missing 88% of Senate votes, Should he quit Senate?

You took the words right out of my keyboard. Every vote that a liberal misses is another vote for liberty!

Liberty can only truly exist if BOTH sides can be heard and the voices of the majority carry the day.

With the exception of the GOP-engineered vote on the unemployment bill, Kerry's absence has not affected any vote in the Senate this year.

I guess that unemployment bill that went down to defeat by 1 vote wasn't important

There were several Republican senators that voted for that bill who wouldn't have if they thought it would pass. That measure would have failed whether or not Kerry was there to vote yes. Just another dirty trick.

As a Massachusetts voter and taxpayer, I'd love to see him out of the Senate. However, as someone pointed out earlier, I'm not losing any sleep over any vote that he misses. ;)

According to the NY Post, Kerry has missed 88% of Senate votes.

Did Kerry get elected by the people of Mass. to eventually run for President? Is he representing the people of Mass by not being present for Senate votes?

Kerry's resonse is: "I'm running for president because we have to put this country back into a place of responsible leadership. And I believe that I'm serving the citizens of Massachusetts and the country in the proposals that I've laid out."

Agree? disagree? Debate amongst yourselves. :D
Yes, he should resign. It's impossible for him to do his current job while also campaigning for president, which means that the people of Mass aren't being represented as they should.

Surprised ? :)

Liberty= The conditionof being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude or forced labor". When Congress votes to relieve me of my hard earned money and force yet another entitlement on the hard working taxpayers, I don't equate that with liberty. The voices of the majority don't always call for liberty.

I think any office holder who decides to devote most of his/her time to campaigning for a different office should resign the present one. I felt that way about Joe Lieberman also - his name was on the ballot twice! If I still lived in MA I would be pushing for Kerry's resignation.

Personally, I think he should resign for the good of the people of Massachusetts.

Will he? Of course not! Then he would be out of a job come December!

I am still trying to pick my jaw up from the floor.

OK, I am absolutely certain we are on the cusp of the Apocaplyse ... because I am in agreement with wvrevy AGAIN! :earseek:

I don't feel strongly about it either way, but then again, I don't live in MA. If I did, I would *probably* prefer he not resign, if only to keep a neocon from being appointed in his place. I'd want to know who was being considered as a replacement before I decided.

I hate to break up the lovefest between you two, but it's not a matter of Eeyore1954 getting it right.

It's that, while it rarely happens, wvrevvy is.......WRONG!!;)

I don't see why he should resign his Senate seat. If the people of MA don't have a problem with it, why should anyone else?

Exactly, to spare us from the tyranny of the majority.
