Debate is ON!

If I hear "my friends" one more time, I swear I'm going to go nuts. The "umms/uhhhs" are bad enough, but I hate the saying "my friends". Say it enough times and it starts to sound insincere.

3 more.

That one?

McCain's not really being very cogent or smooth with his delivery. Without regard to the content of what he's saying (and remember, on economic issues, I tend to agree with him), he's not inspiring confidence.

I've lost count. If I were playing the drinking game with alcohol, they'd have to wheel me out of the house by now. Luckily I've stuck to diet soda, so all I need is a bathroom. :lmao:

The "that one" did seem a little strange. Maybe opposed to himself as "this one"? :confused3 And what was with the hand gesture when he was walking around behind Obama? Was that like a baseball sign? :teeth:

Maybe Tom Brokaw needs an air horn to signal them when they go over on time.

"The point is..." Every time someone needs to say that they're basically acknowledging that they were rambling before that phrase.

Tonight Tom Brokaw has the best job in the world ....

.... he gets to tell politicians to shut up. :teeth:

That drives my DH crazy! Every time McCain says "my friends" DH says, "Are we drinkin buddies? Do you owe me money?"

Im soooo over both of these guys. I'll be at the voting office crying having to pick one of these guys knowing both of them are wrong for this country. I hope and pray that either guy is only in office for 4 years and doesn't take this country apart while in power.

PS I wish the mic would just turn off when the time was up. Maybe Tom should have a water bottle handy and squirt them everytime they go over.

Well, the nastiness apparently is not relegated to rallies, commercials or press releases. McCain sounds truly manic, like he's sure he knows all the answers and he's being kind enough to let us in on his secrets, so he just doesn't understand why doesn't everyone agree with him? I have not seen anything that remotely looks presidential from him this evening. His snark and snickering is out of control. When I see his behavior tonight, it reminds me completely of George Bush at his worst, condescending, snide and sarcastic in contrast with calm and poise displayed by Obama. I'm not sure why either of them agreed to 1-minute questions. It's not enough time to answer these questions, and for all Tom's chastising, he's not cutting either of them off.

The CNN dial polls of uncommitted Ohio voters are interesting, especially with foreign policy...like most Americans, I don't think they're into the negativity and desperation being displayed by McCain. I think this bizarre behavior is going to hurt McCain more than it helps - especially coming directly from him and not his surrogates.

Kinda like a cat squirter!

That's better than my loud 'time is up' buzzer! LOL!!!!!

This thread is more entertaining than the debate itself! :)

McCain looks very old and doddering tonight.

And I am not his friend.

I thought his patronizing response to the bailout question posed by the African-American was breathtaking. "You've probably never heard of Fanny Mae or Freddy Mac." Holy cow, how insulting can you get?

I'm really disappointed in both McCain and Obama tonight.......and frustrated.

Tom Brokaw is the clear winner here.

Can we appoint Tom as speaker of the house?

I'm about ready to vote for Mickey Mouse as a write-in.
