Since I'll be in the Miami area a few days before my first cruise out of Miami and renting a car, I won't need transfers to the port. However, getting to the airport after we disembark will be a different story. Uber fare estimate is around $23 but of course that doesn't factor in their surge pricing which I'm sure is very high when cruise ships are docked.

The Uber fare would be half of what we'd spend on the 1-way DCL transfer to MIA. Just didn't know what everyone has done after their cruise. I feel that the DCL transfer option may not be the cheapest option, but it would be the easiest.

Interesting remark about surge. Never thought about it. Has anyone taken an Uber at Miami and remember the cost for the ride?

I’ve done both Uber and Miami taxi from the port to the car rental center by the airport (rather than directly to MIA) multiple times, most recently in January. Cost has always been in the $30 plus tip range. There may be a flat rate for taxis from the port to MIA (I know there is one in the other direction—$27 plus tip).

Thanks for sharing!

Isn't the flat rate in the other direction only from the airport?

Might be. As I noted, I said there "may be" such a rate from port to airport, since I have no experience going in that direction (we rent a car at the MIA car rental center to drive to WDW to continue our vacation after completing our cruises out of Miami). I only indicated that there was in the airport to port direction as a definite thing.

I've used a taxi going from MIA - Cruise Terminal. It was fast and easy and it was a flat rate and took about 25 minutes. I haven't gone the other direction (it was a EBTA cruise) but the going Taxi rate should be around $30 even without the flat rate.
