If you have me as a facebook friend, you know that this past saturday my dad passed away due to an accidental overdose.

My dad and I were never close, and we stopped speaking/seeing each other 3 years ago. In June, he added me on facebook but I turned him down and we got in a huge fight over my last name and whatnot. The last thing I told him was to leave me alone and stop messaging me. His last words to me was I'll still love you till the die I die. Just think of me.

These past couple of monthes I have been thinking of clearing the air with him and trying to re-build a relationship. But his addiction to prescription medication and his mental illness delayed it. I wanted to invite him to graduation next year and eventually my wedding and not make it awkward in the least... But I was to late..


Anyway, the point of this thread was..I was wondering if anyone has ever lost someone close to them or someone they were once close to, to death? How did you deal with the pain?

Please keep my brother and I in your thoughts & prayers if possible. We are really taking it hard, especially since we never had a chance to say goodbye.

I've never lost anyone so I can't even begin to know what you're going through.

I have gone through my boyfriend loosing his best friend due to a blood clot. It was very sudden, no one knew anything about it.

Loosing a family member or friend to death is definitely the worst thing in the world.

I saw on your facebook you said something about being sorry. Please please please don't be sorry for anything. Anyone would have done the same thing you have.

My friend is going through that now (her dad left her and her mom, now trying to communicate through fb, & she keeps turning him
down)

Don't blame yourself for anything. Like I told you
on fb, I'm here if you ever need to talk.

And I'm definitely praying for you and your brother!

Last year my great aunt died, and the year before that, my grandma's sister died. And I almost lost my grandma this year.
I will def. keep you and your brother in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss Alexis. I hope you know that it was not your fault, and you did what anyone would do.

Personally, I have lost quite a few people. I'm not sure if anyone here remembers, but a couple years ago it seemed like so many people I loved were in the hospital or dying. I've had to attend way too many funerals for someone my age. I sometimes still think about how I could've did things differently, like seeing those people more or making sure I said goodbye...but I just have to believe they knew how much I loved them. You have to believe that too, Alexis.

My friend lost his best friend earlier this year...he took it pretty bad...depressed like h-e-double hockey sticks for awhile, but is getting much better as time goes by.

my grandma died before thanksgiving. i was never close with her, since she lived far away, but it was still a shock. she was an alcoholic, and her liver just completely shut down. i really don't know how christmas is going to be; my dad's pretty okay now, but my mom gets upset for him alot.
