Hello fellow Canadian DVC owners,

Just curious if any of you had to deal with the death of a member and how complicated or easy the process was. Nobody died in my group and hopefully nobody will for a long time but I am one who likes to learn about things when I am not under pressure.

It might almost be better to conat DVC member services and get there answer.

If DVC is regarded in the same light as other outside Canada real estate, you will need a US lawyer, and possibly an accountant, to assist you.

I don't remember the exact details, but when we (myself and DW) bought (direct), there were two ways we could set up the ownership deed. The way we chose allowed for it to be automatically deeded to the other on one of our passing. I think it was specific to a spousal purchase.

The other thing is if one member (of multiple) passes vs. all members on a contract.

As pp said, I'm sure a lawyer would be the best route.
