Death at Aquatica

Thoughts go out to that family, very sad time.

We went to Aquatica in June this year and Roa Rapids was one of our favourite experiences there - but I would consider myself a strong swimmer and I would not liked to have been in there without a life jacket, these are not compulsarary which I think should change - I remember my left arm being blasted by one of the jets that causes the water to move so quickly and it really took the wind out of me and I was a bit dazed for a few moments - without a life jacket that could have been a lot more scary :(

I was there on monday and wednesday (occured on tuesday).

Didnt even know anything about it until I read on here. Roas rapids is still open.

It is a bit rough but I dont think its that bad. I cant swim at all but is ok. Saying that thouhg nearly everyone wears lifejackets on there anyway.

Really sad though. According to local news they dont know whether he banged his head and drowned or whether he died of natural causes at the mo.

Heard about this on the news over there. Very sad.

My mum said her friend was there on Sunday and I'm 'almost drowned and was shouting to the lifeguards to help but no one came.'
I hope Aquatica bucks up their game and sorts stuff like this out.

Very Sad, how awful for the family. And anyone who must have witnessed it too. We were there last week and didnt find the rapids that bad. I did it both with and without the life jacket.

I was there on Sunday just gone and there are numerous lifeguards along this attraction. Im very surprised they would ignore someone shouting when in trouble.

I thought i saw on the TV before i left that he died of natural causes, but all the articles just say "likely died of natural causes".

If thats the case its just a tragic accident.
