I don't think we need many batteries this year. Legos and American Girl are the majority of our toys. That should mean relatively few twisty ties from hell as well.

Based on what's going on in the world I just feel blessed that we are able to buy presents.

Holy crap - batteries! I have no idea if anything the kids are getting need batteries, I didn't look this year - oops! Unless a christmas miracle of a fast thaw happens they won't be getting any batteries aside from the 2 AA I have hiding in the closet.

When I was scouring the "as seen on TV" shelves of my local CVS for my Grandma's Xmas present [she SERIOUSLY loves those things, so please do not think I am being mean], I saw they have a blade/cutter for opening those plastic packages. Maybe you can ask Santa to leave you one of those so you can help the kiddies open the packages.

DH got one of those from Santa in his stocking a few years ago. That was the best gift Santa EVER brought!! His has a clipper for those (not Christmas friendly word) twist tie thingies too!

I'm also asking for toys that need batteries have screws that fit a normal screwdriver and not a pint size one fit for the elves at the N. Pole. Nothing more annoying than needing a bitty bitty sized phillips screwdriver and not having one and having to pinch hit with common household items.

THAT is why they have those dinky ones!!! I have always wondered WHERE the screwdrivers are that fit those little deals. Now I know--the mystery is solved.

That is my focus this year and last. Wellll.....I cheated. The boys are getting DS Lites and they have their own little recharging system. How brilliant is that? I am now forever thankful to Nintendo for this development. We even have a charger converter thingy for the car so they can take turns if they need it on vacation. However, nothing else needs batteries. DDs digital camera even came with its own rechargeables.
