Hi- this is my second journal here on WISH. Some of you may remember me from 2 years ago- I did great with the WW Flex plan- lost 15 pounds- now I have gained back 7 of those. I need a lifestyle change- not a diet.
Here are my vitals-
35 year old mom of 3 (SAM for now)
5'6"
146 pounds (was 149 a week ago- yeah!)
Levi Jeans- Size 12
The reasons I am changing- in order of importance to me:
Be a better example for my family
LOSE WEIGHT to look better (and feel more confident)
Be Healthy and feel better physically
OK- I know- my priorities are out of whack- but I am more motivated to look good than to improve my health. I am trying to be completely honest here- my emotional health is in jeopardy because of the way I feel about my appearance- and it is taking a toll.
I am completely changing the way I eat- I am following the Montignac Method. If anyone isn't familiar- It is an old diet that takes into account the GI value of foods- the ultimate goal is to keep your blood sugar from spiking and dropping through out the day. No sugar, white flour, potatoes- You can eat good carbs- but only by themselves- you can't mix carbs and proteins/fats. (Many people think that Somersizing is pretty much the same diet- that Suzanne Somers just re-wrote the Montignac book with some minor changes-- and added a product line to the diet.) The bad thing is I orderred the Montignac book last week and it is on back order- so I may be doing it wrong- But I have lost weight so I am happy.
THE REASON FOR THIS JOURNAL:
I do not want my kids (especially my 10 year old daughter) to hear me or see me obsessing over carbs or nutritional labels- but I need to get out my feelings and thoughts on my health plan. I want to have a piece of cake on my birthday and have gravy and mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving- I don't want my daughter to think that to eat right is to completely deprive yourself of these things. To eat right is to have good habits EVERYDAY- then it does not matter if a couple times a month you find yourself offerred birthday cake or pizza- it is no problem- because if you eat right EVERYDAY- then a treat here and there won't hurt you a bit. I don't want my daughter to see me as a dieter- but rather as a healthy eater. So this journal will be my sounding board- and I will keep my comments to myself at home.
If you are still reading this, WOW. I know this was long and boring. Thanks for sticking with me. It will be fun to get back into journalling here- such a great bunch of people. It is wonderful to give and get support.
I am off to have my grapefruit now- hope you all have a great OP day.
