Sounds like an idea but I don't think I will push anything outside the job requirements. But there are a lot of things that could make it a better place to work so thoes are the things that I will push. This way it will either get better or they will look for someone else who will put up with thier crap and not care.
This place is on thier 4th plant mgr. in 2 years and the last 3 people they hired for my job didn't work out.
Needless to say this place has serious issues.

My husband has hated his job for the last 14 out of the 24 years he's worked there. I fear it will likely kill him. I've seen him age, and the life drain out of him with each passing year. We are trapped. It's difficult start over at 57.

That's what I am afraid will happen with this place. So far I have done a good job of taking care of myself being healthy and not looking or acting like someone who is 44 years old. But this place is hot and nasty so not only is it mentaly draining it is physicaly draining. Most evenings consist of laying around in the ac trying to recover from the day. Sorry for not fitting some peoples mold but I want more from life than work, eat and sleep. I realize that every job has times you don't like but if it is 80% don't and only 20% do that's not the way I want to live my life.

It's very difficult to start over at any age, but I know you can do it, or should I say, you have to do it.
I was in that situation and instead of starting over, I took long breaks from my career. I took a huge money hit and worked at WDW for six months every three or four years. I did it six times. It got me by. I guess what I'm saying is be creative and see what is possible in your situation.

I will chime in on this,as i just went thru it.As some of you know i had a job that is no longer in the U.S.A. and moved to mexico...17 years i gave it...Then i took a job as a school bus driver and a sub teacher...It was okay...But i went back into the restraunt bussiness...Pay was great..benies excellent....i worked in taco heck for 8 months...lost 53 pounds..could not sleep and hated to answer my cell or check my e-mail..never home and was not allowed to fire some really poor performing mgrs..But yet each and every day i got dressed down for really stupid things my restraunt could not help...Like a customer changing there orders..therefore causing a void.It was not till june right before i took 2 days off to go to orlando when it hit me like a ton of bricks...when my boss came by to tell me how lucky i was to be allowed to take 2 days off back to back....

I went on my trip and came back to the same ole same ole...Did i mention i was called by my boss to ***** while i was gone...I had had enough...i went in and typed out my 2 week notice and faxed it in...You got it boys and girls i walked away from a 43k job in this world...call me stupid ...dumb...whatever..I have a peace of mind...abtw...I go back to driving a bus tomorrow...and a sub in the schools cafertia...it doesnt pay squat...but atleast i sleep at nite..and i actually look at my cell phone and e-mails. yes i turn 50.in a couple of weeks...Life is too short for a bunch of B.S...Thats just my 2 cents.

The guy who started about three weeks before me was telling me that he also wants out of this place. He said that once he got to the workplace it was nothing like they described it in the interview.Makes me feel better atleast I'm not the only one who sees it and feels that way

Well I spent 45 min. in the bosses office yesterday while he told me what a great guy he is and everyone hates him because they misunderstand his good intentions. Also found out this company is only temporary running this plant they don't even own it. when the contract is up we are out or sooner if local managment can find a reason.
I quit a real job to work for less than a temp agency. Ain't life grand.

And companies complain about lack of loyalty. I love my job but some of the people are trifling, small people that love to make others miserable, the job is hard enough already but then some just feel they need to make it worse.

Came in to the office/trailer to eat lunch and found my boss who had disappeared over an hour before kicked back in his desk chair sleeping. He was still there snoring. One of the guys got a good pic.

I remember back in the mid 80's I worked for a land surveying company in the day and went to school at night. I had found a job doing the same thing but it paid $3 more an hour so I went for it. Within 2 weeks I was ready to quit. I was told I could be off by 4 everyday. I missed classes at least 2 times a week and lost the money I paid for them once I dropped them.

I asked my former employer who was not real happy I left in the first place, for my job back and he declined. I ended up with another company for about a year and finally got back with the original company. It may not hurt to ask your former boss for your job even if you have to eat some crow. I got a lot flack when I came back about being a deserter but I was happy.

Whatever happens I hope something better comes up. I know how you feel going to the new job.

I got a call last night from the guy I worked with in the shop asking me when I was comming back. Unfortunatly they allready hired some idiot to take my place also this isn't the first time I had a brain fart and took someone on thier word. I quit three years ago and came back in two weeks. You would have thught I would have learned from that but I guess not.
