Deal on iPod Touch?

Hi everyone, my DD8 is asking for an iPod Touch for Christmas. I know absolutely nothing about them and would love to know which one I should get her, and who is offering the best deal on them. Thanks so much!

I just saw that Target will have the 32gb one in tomorrow's weekly ad. You get a $20 gift card when you buy it. Target also has a 10% of Ipod coupon on their website that you can print and use.

I don't know if this the best deal, but decent.

If DD is going to be putting on a lot of movies, I would go with a bigger one. If it is just going to be for music and apps, you probably could get away with the 8gb.

Thank you for the replies! She would be using it mostly for music and apps, perhaps an occaisonal tv show. I think the 8 GB would be ok. I'll need to check out the price difference between the two.

I'm in the market for one for my DD too. Everything I've been reading says the 8gb is really not big enough. I'm going with the 32gb. Better to be safe than sorry........

Amazon has it for $274, no tax, free shipping.

Target will probably have theirs for $295 with the gift card & 10% off coupon, but you have to pay tax.

I bought the 32gb 2 weeks ago when target was running the 20 dollar gift card also.I used the 10% coupon,got the 20 dollar gift card and used my red debit card which gave me an extra 5% off.It came to 273 and change out of pocket and I still have the gift card so really 253.I signed up for the debit card that day to use on the purchase and it was really easy-I shop there all the time and don't know why I waited so long to get it and now they offer free shipping on line if you have the debit card.All you need is a drivers license and a blank check.

I just did this this morning, I'm sooooo glad they did the GC promo again. I was mad at myself for not going a couple weeks ago.

OP, The $20 GC is given with any IPod Touch purchase, not just the 32GB.

Is the debit card different from the red credit card? I don't want to open a cc but I'd definitely sign up for a debit card if it would pull the money from our account like my bank debit. I looked but did not see anything about it on the website.

I would love to do this deal for DD11. Will the $20 gc definitely apply to the 8gb also? Thanks for everyone's posts, I am so thankful for this board & sharing of deals!

The electronics guy checking me out was very impressed. Said he had never seen one sell for that cheap

I am shopping for an iPod for ds8 (month shy of 9) and I am underwhelmed by the offerings. I thought about getting th etarget deal today with the $20 gift card, 10% coupon and 5% red card but I don't believe it would be much better than amazon with no tax or shipping (prime member) especially when I'd be paying sales tax when I use the gift card (8.5%). Target is better by like $10 not worth getting in the car.
I saw that toys r us has the 32g for $300 full retail with a $50 gift card on black firday ( or is it black thanksgiving?) Add the tax on the purchase and gift card redemption and amazon still wins in the convenience factor. I'm holding out for an amazon lightening deal or a refurb.

My point exactly. You saved a whopping $7 over amazon and will pay sales tax when you redeem the gift card. No worth it me.

We are heading to Disney on Jan. 8 and my dd wants an ipod touch for Christmas but where we are, the 8gb version is almost $300 so I am thinking of doing an "IOU" gift and buy it on our DW vacation.

That would be an awesome deal! I'm not locked into getting it this year so I think I may wait for that. Then find an inexpensive tablet for DS. If I can't get it, we will probably get a Kindle Fire for the kids to share. I'm torn. So many cool choices, but need to fit them into the budget!

We looked at some really cheap Android-based minitablets at TRU but the reviews were horrible on Amazon. So I figured if we were spending money, we'd get something I know would be quality, so we picked the iTouch.

I bought one yesterday for my DD11. Well, she used birthday money, I only gave her about $40 towards it. We bought the 8g black one. She's already used up all the space on it. It has 2 movies (Toy Story 3, Despicable Me and 2 episodes of Phineas/Ferb) and some apps and not much music. So it does not seem to hold much to me.

I don't regret getting the smaller one, because spending more is out of the question. She'll just be happy with what she has (and she is, she loves it!)

It was $194.99 at the NEX (base exchange) and $189.00 on Amazon, free shipping. I had the NEX price match. I also had a 5% coupon so ours came out to about $180, no tax.

It is a neat little contraption, I disabled lots of features (Safari, Youtube, etc) off of it.

Thanks everyone for your help. This morning I debated driving to NH (to avoid paying sales tax) to the Target there (about a 25 minute drive each way), but in the end I bought the 8GB black iPod Touch for DD on Amazon for $189 w/free shipping.

Now what to get DS6?

Does he have a DS or DSi? We got our son a DSiXL last year and it's awesome. Not sure what he's getting "big" this year, probably just a few games and maybe a bike?


I was tempted for a sec to get one for my 9 yr old but he doesn't care about music, he just wants to play apps. I'll just let him use my iPad instead of paying that much money for an iTouch for him when he's not really going to be using it for all it's features and won't take care of it.
