Southwest Airlines is having a system wide sale! I just booked a flight from Portland OR to Orlando for $99 each way! The sale ends soon. They are booking thru 10/29. YES!

THANKS ALICE28 !

Alice28,

Did you use a promotional code of some kind to find that great deal? When I looked today, the cheapest airfare I found was $159 each way, and there were very few itineraries left even at that price.

Thanks for your post and any insight you might provide so I can take advantage of that great fare for our upcoming trip this July.

TommyJoe-

No, I did not use a code of any sorts. I think because I booked for October I may have had more choice in itineraries. Also, if you fly on a T/W/Th/Sa they sometimes will have cheaper fares.

HTH~~

Thanks for the info Alice. I just got off the phone with booking our October trip-1 free Rapid Rewards Fare and 6 paying ones! Cost was 157 plus tax!!!!! I'm doing the happy dance.:jumping1:

I re-entered our itinerary just now and it looks like the sale has ended! I'm back up to $159 each way- glad I checked yesterday! Subscribe to their click and save alerts so you can get a heads up to deals....I would say about 2-3 times a year they have a sale where you can go anywhere SW flies for $99 or less each way. Considering gas prices, I just can't believe I get to fly cross country for $100 each way!!

Thanks for the reply. I guess it's you snooze, you lose. Also, traveling in July doesn't help my cause either.

Urgh!!! I need November 5th...! Torture....absolute torture.

Ijust got SW for $94.00 each way from Reno, NV, going Sept 29. I had a $229.00 credit left from a trip I was supposed to take to Kansas City last month and after taxes, I still have a $3.00 credit. Yeah for SWA!!!!!!

:Pinkbounc :bounce:

HI ALL!
If you book on SWA and pay the moderate fair EX. $159 and SWA decides to have a sale, call immediately SWA and request an adjustment to the lower fare and refund if you don't change anything on your itinerary. I did it and got my $ 60 per tix refund on my Credit Card 10 days after calling the SWA Service Center upon returning home.

"I WANT TO THANK THE DISBOARD MEMBER WHO POSTED THE REFUND THREAD!"

"THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!!"

I saw a $99 one way fare from San Antonio to Orlando yesterday, but when I looked today it was gone. I called and they said that was an internet special. SWA has internet specials on various flights offered on Tues-Thurs. So when I looked on Friday it was gone. I'll try next Tue. to see if there's a similar fare.

SW always has specials to or from select cities that have the internet special rate for purchase on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. It doesn't limit you to flying on those days of the week, just purchasing them. You need to sign up for their email reminders or remember yourself to check every Tuesday for their internet specials. Living in MA and flying to both MCO and LAX (DD there), I never pay more than $99. in either direction. The best thing about SW is that you can reschedule a flight. You call and cancel and when you rebook, you use the same itinerary number to rebook. You get the value of what you paid towards the new ticket at the new price. This needs to be rebooked within a year of original purchase price. Except for their screwy boarding arrangement (A,B,C) SW is a great airline to fly. By the way, you won't see them when you do a comparison on Orbitz or others. You need to go to them direct. This summer, I got a great rate from AA for R/T BOS-MCO @ $164. total pp.....62 days and counting!

Keep checking SWA website often. I got the $99 fare from PDX to MCO for July 28, returning August 8. ( A couple of months ago) Check the dates you are interested in, and see what the availability looks like - if the cheapest fares are unavailable, you probably won't have much luck at anything cheaper! If you find anything under $200 each way you should probably grab it if it is in your budget. Then, if prices go down you can always go for the refund! GOOD LUCK fellow Northwest WDW addicts!:wave2:

SWA is having a $59 each way sale now. Its still cheaper for me to use ATA though.

Is ther any rhyme or reason as too when Southwest releases dates? I'm looking to book a trip strating 10/31 should I just keep checking everyday or is a specific time that I should anticipate those dates being available?

Thanks

Autumn

autumnblue-as far as I can tell, there isn't a real rhyme or reason as to when they release dates...usually 5-6 months in advance. I would just check every Tuesday to see when they are booking out to, and what the prices are, so at least you can get a feel of what is the cheapest they will go out of your area. Good luck!

I'm sure alot has to do with ticket sales. If slow then I am sure they will do deals. I perfer ATA they are always cheaper for me.

Not really. They plan 4-6 months out only. They are constantly running specials, one gets the idea they toss all the airports they use into a fish bowl and select the "bargain" of the week.

You must get some really bargain fares, I would be paying twice the price if I flew them. How did you best 59.00 each way? did you get non stop?

Yes, you never know what exactly is going to be on special and when. Once we got Portland, OR to Orlando for $82 each way! No joking! I just about fainted cause I didn't expect to get anything less than $99 each way. I have not seen it that low since, and it wasn't an advertised fare...I just happened to check the website and there it was. And my parents who live in San Jose, CA and who were also going on that trip to Orlando, got some ridiculous fare that same day for $63 each way!!! Coast to coast for $63!!! Amazing. I love Southwest!

Editing to say that now that I think about this, we booked this in Sept 2002- maybe they were having an unsaid 9-11 sale at the time because those prices were/are just unheard of.
