Dead Man's Chest discussion (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

At the end of the "curse of the black pearl" after the credits the monkey swims up to the are where Barbossa is supposeldy dead and stels a coin from the chest, hence why he is still un-dead.

Next area for discussion: How is Barbossa still alive? And did anyone else notice that Jack's compass kept pointing twords Elizabeth? At one point when they are looking for the chest Elizabeth holds the compass and it points twords Jack......

Also Will looked a bit peeved when Elizabeth kissed Jack which to me seems to say that Will and Elizabeth will not be on a happy road, and possiblt she will end up with Jack?

Also when Jack is "eaten" by the kracken maybe he was just sent to Davey Jones locket, meaning he is now on the ship with the rest of the barnical people?

How is Barbossa still alive? : Well from what I saw, I'm taking it that remember when the first time they ventured see Tia Dalma, when she released the monkey and went to fetch the infamous jar of dirt, you saw the monkey 'squeaking' if you like ( ) at a pair of boots? I think that was Barbossa, and Tia had possibly seen what was coming and taken the precaution

Hmm I'm not sure if i'd like the Elizabeth/Jack pairing, but Will seems to think that Lizzie loves Jack, not him and when Will says "If there was anything that could be done" to Elizabeth at the end, I think he could possibly have been meaning that if he and jack could swap places to ensure her happiness then he would do it.


Oooh I like the idea of the Jack on the Flying Dutchman theory!

I just saw it again today. Those credits were murder!

hi, I havnt seen it yet, so only flicked through this, but from what I read, its similar to the way BTTF 2 and 3 were filed, released as 2 movies whereas its really just 1 2 parter (if you see what I mean)

The great thing for us is, we will see 2 here and ten part 3 in Florida next July
.

One claim to fame I have (albeit vague) a chap who I worked with up to recently has a cousin in the US who works in the movie industry, he blows tuff up for a living (I guess there is a bit more to it that that, but still) and when Chris (my mate) went to see him last year, he was working on the film and Chriss got a load of crew stuff, hats jackets the lot. cool eh!

Went to see it last night. Have to say although the action was superb I preferred the first film. Maybe it was me, but I thought the storyline a bit confusing and all over the place. Will having to find a key, to a box to get the compass to free Elizabeth. Ashley lost the plot after half and hour and fidgetted throughout but luckily the cinema only had about 10 other people in it so he didn't bother anyone.

I don't know how it is doing in the U.K. but I heard on the radio, that here in the U.S., it has already grossed $321,0000,000. That despite, whatever flaws it may have, and the negative reviews.

If it keeps going the way it is, it will be the highest grossing film of all time.

I have another theory

Mr Jones has a locket yeah? We see it playing it's wee tune wehn Will goes to get the key.
Tia Dalma appears to have a matching locket, we see this locket when Jack takes a ring from her table (as she fetches the jar of dirt).

Could Tia Dalma possibly be the woman Davey fell in love with?

I found the confusion of Elizabeth and her feelings for Jack promising for the next film. Isn't Keira a lucky girl getting to kiss two gorgeous guys? I don't think Will Turner came out very well from this film anyway, wanted him to be a bit more romantic.

I'd pick Jack over Will any day, thought Will came out of this movie a bit wet (not from being in the sea either!)

And yes I really enjoyed the film,didnt stop to watch all the credits tho

I happened to come across this site after watching the Director's Commentary on Dead Man's Chest. I will admit to being a pirate "geek", and was intrigued at some of the topics that have been brought up.

According to the director's the compass represents not really a "heart's desire" but more like what a person wants at a particular moment. They were making the case that when Elizabeth is on the deck with the compass, it is pointing to Jack because it represents her desire to free Will. (I'm not so sure that I buy into that.)
They also said that the sence where Jack and Elizabeth first almost kiss represents the desire that both Jack and Elizabeth have for each other as well as a "battle of the minds" to see who will give in first.

As far as Davy Jones goes, they came out and said that the actress who plays Tia Dalma was picked because she was the only one who picked up on the romantic relationship between Jones and Dalma. (wow, please excuse the run on sentece.)

They captured my curiousity when they said that the lockets have a signifigant role in the third film. It will obviuosly play out in the relationship between Jones and Dalma, but what I would like to know is how.

There are too many questions that will only be answered with the release of the third one. I can't wait.
