DDxP appetizer question

On the DDxP, since we have 3 adults, and each one of us gets an appetizer with our meal...

are they appetizers for the whole table to share, or individual portions?
Could you also choose a soup or salad for yourself instead?

They are individual portions. However, some are far larger than others. For example, the Aracini at Via Napoli is 3 little balls of fried risotto (but oh so very good), while the flatbread at Cali Grill is quite sizable (just under what I'd consider an entree). Most restaurants do have a soup or salad available as well, and I'm sure if you wanted a plain ol' boring house salad, the bulk of them would be able to accommodate you (I wouldn't rely on it, but I can't see a reason why they would not).

Some appies specify on the menu "for two." So if you choose one of those, you would only be able to get one other for your party of 3 at that particular meal. The appetizer portions at most of the restaurants in WDW are actually quite small...I mean appropriately sized for appetizers...we're not talking Applebee's or TGIF portion appetizers.

Well, we find most appetizers at Disney restaurants are quite large.

There are some small appetizers, yes: our experience after 1/2 dozen trips on the deluxe dining is that the appetizers at signature dining restaurants tend to be elaborate/elegant presentations with gourmet ingredients, but are definitely small quantities. At the vast majority of non-signature restaurants, we found most single-serve appetizers were actually large enough for 2 to share (or big enough to be an entree) ...and the apps labeled as "for 2" were typically big enough for 3-4 people to share as an appetizer.

We are not small people with tiny appetites, either...what is politely referred to as "Pooh-sized" on the Disboards

The apps at the signature restaurants are very tiny and pretty much impossible to share. Like one tiny crabcake tiny in some cases .

Years ago when we first started going to WDW, appetizers were much more like the size you get would get a chain like TGIF or Applebees. Now I find them to be much, much smaller, more sized for a single person.
