We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 this morning and by 7 we were in the surgery suite,by 7:20 I walked her into the operating room and laid her down on the table where I was able to stay until she was asleep( only about a minute for her to drift off)thats when my tears kicked in:sad: !By 8:10 the Dr. came to see DH and I and said that DD did great, her tonsils were even bigger then he thought and the bleeding was very little, and that she had been in the recovery room for 20 minutes already!:yay: Then the anesthesiologist came to see us and was bearing a gift! DD's tooth( that had been loose for days) was knocked out when he inserted the breathing tube.. he felt terrible- but I knew it would happen and told them it probably would before they even took her in! By 9 DD was watching TV and sucking on pops! The Dr's and nurses couldn't believe how well she did throughout the whole thing! At 11 we were on our way home and DD has been doing great just a little soreness and so far has only needed Tylenol with Codeine once!I must admit she really surprised me with her strength ! Hopefully she will sleep well tonight and will feel even better tomorrow. She'll be out of school for 10 days and then when she goes back she won't be able to take gym or go out for recess for 3 weeks .I'm glad that this is behind us now and hopefully the sleep apnea and strep will be a thing of the past for her!

Wishing her a speedy recovery!

I'm so glad it went well. I hope she feels better quickly.

I am glad to hear things went well. I am sure it was hard on you and your DH. More :wizard: for an uneventful recovery.

Wow 10 days out of school???? That seems like a lot. She is going to be bouncing off the walls pretty soon! Glad to hear things went well. When DD had her stomach surgery he said kids fall into two groups, ninjas and not ninjas. The ninjas are up and about as expected and the not ninjas are the ones that want to cling to mom and not do what they are supposed to. Sounds like you have a ninja.

Glad to hear your daughter did well in surgery. Great news!
Our daughter had those 'monster' tonsils, too.;)
She also lost a tooth in an intubation during one of her surgeries. However, they never noticed hers was missing, we found out later! lol
Glad she gets to 'keep' hers. lol

It sounds like you had a great experience!

I hope she continues to do so well!

Do be prepared for her to feel worse and experience more pain on Day 3. It's very common so don't think she's having a set-back if it happens.

That's great news and I'm so glad your DD is doing good. After DS had his tonsils and adnoids removed he had no more sleep apnea! It was great and a few days after the surgery it was the first time since he was born(3 years)that he actually slept through the night!!

Fabulous! I am so glad that she did so well in surgery! I know that is a scary thing---but sounds like she did grand and her health will be better in the future!

How wonderful that she did so well! I am amazed that you could actually go into the OR suite. We could only go as far as the holding area.

Always difficult when our babies undergo surgery . So glad she did well and surgery was successful. We went thru this with our little DGS and wish your DD a speedy recovery. :goodvibes

So glad it is over, and she is home where you can coddle and comfort her...Congratulations to all of you. It is so difficult to see them in pain or anything..:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Yeah! So does the tooth fairy cough up a little extra tonight? :lmao:

What great news! I'm so happy that she did so well. Now,relax because when you get home, she'll need her mom to play nursemaid. At least that was my experience with my DD.

Glad to hear everything went well. I know all about the waterworks after seeing our 'babies' get put to sleep (one year ago next week my 9yo had kidney stone surgery).

I'm so glad everything went well. I think I remember you posting and saying she might need to have this done. Just a note of caution on the tylenol + codeine, I don't remember your DD's age but you may want to give it to her just in case. What happened with my son was that DH skipped a dose because he was doing so well, but really the meds had just been controlling the pain well, and he spiraled back down and wouldn't eat, drink, or do anything. We ended up at the ER to have a line placed so he could be hydrated and get some meds pushed and you'd better believe there were no skipped doses after that ;) He was only 22 months though, so your DD may be better able to be reasoned with. Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

I'm glad it went well!

That's one good thing about the hospital we were at ,they allow one person to go into the operating room and stay until the patient is under-of course I had to wear a white paper jumpsuit ,booties and hat ... made me feel like a HAZ MAT worker!:lmao:
