DD's Surgery is Tomorrow...

I feel terrible that this has to be done right before Christmas ,but 8 year old DD had a Sleep Study done 2 weeks ago and the results were terrible!She was diagnosed with severe Sleep Apnea due to huge tonsils and adneoids She stopped breathing 21 times during the test and her oxygen levels were very poor !I dealt with Sleep Apnea in youngest DD(7) and since she had her Tonsils removed this past January she has greatly improved,so I'm hoping that oldest DD will also benefit from Surgery!

Aw, I'm sorry your DD has to have the surgery done right at the holidays. I hope she has a quick recovery and that the surgery helps with her sleep apnea.

If it's any consolation, when I was 5 my tonsils came out, and that night when I went home I ate HardShelled Tacos (my favorite food) I never had any problems. Good luck to dd!

My son had a tonsil emergency just prior to Christmas 3 years ago. On December 21st he had his adenoids and tonsils removed At 11 years old. He was at Christmas dinner with bells on! I never expected that speedy a recovery but he did great. He was able to enjoy the families company and eat some soft foods but no rough active play and he was fine.

I hope your daughter sails through this with little discomfort! Good luck tomorrow.

Tacos' and a raw throat somehow I think DD will forego her favorite food for awhile!

I'm hoping oldest DD is "made from the same stuff" her sister is (as she breezed through her surgery incredibly well also)!

Good luck to your DD! A brother to one of DD's classmates had his adenoids out a couple of weeks ago and he felt well enough 2 days afterwards to return to school! I saw him yesterday and he said that he feels SO much better since doing it.

I had that done when I was Kindergarten. As soon as I got out of the Hospital I wanted chicken nuggets. At least I think I did. Hope she heals fast for the Holidays.

You're gone already but good thoughts are coming your way! I had my tonsils out at 18 and it was a breeze! No problems at all!! As far as the holiday goes, I can think of worse things than some extra tlc over Christmas!!

We are back... and she did fabulous!She was admitted at 6:30 and and I walked her into the OR at 7:30,by 8:10 she was in recovery and was discharged at 11!Now she is watching TV, eating ice cream, and snuggling under her favorite Disney fleece blanket!Thank you all for your thoughts and good wishes!
