DDs school

just back from DDs school, where they have had a group of young people working with them for the last 3 days, and culminated with a show tonight of singing and dancing, and an excellent performance by everyone.
This was a group apparently started back in 1962, and they go all over the world, and would highly recommend them to anyone in teaching esp drama to look into it.
They are called the Young Americans, and where here in Ireland for a few days working with children of all ages.
We had a great night out at the school, and was really surprised with the professionalism of how everyone performed.

There is a program similar to this that is from Montana called the Missoula Children's Theater. They go all over the world to perform plays in schools. They spend a week with the kids learning their lines and put on a performance at the end of the week (or a few of them). Our kids old school did this and they had a BLAST. The shows were usually very funny and quite good for the time the had to put them together.

DD just finished her second Missoula experience. It is a wonderful program and very popular here. There were more that 160 kids at the audition for only 60 parts. But they do it in such a non competitive way that there were hardly any tears after the cuts (even from the moms). I highly recommend encouraging your kids to try out if they come to your community.
